It's Nintendo branded, gullible people will buy it, for everyone else there's that.

Interesting, well your 256gb sandisk card is like the latest & greatest model sandisk makes I believe. So I guess what is happening here is the U1 card I tested against link probably has lower speeds \ write rate than your newer model Sandisk U1 card.

I guess it would also help if we knew specifically how long your rev2 install takes to know just how much faster each card may be. We pretty much just press install and then lose track of things until we notice install is complete. Like I really didn't expect that install to take 53 minutes, but sure enough an episode of Better Call Saul completed before it did haha.

Edit: Oh and I only used the Xecuter menu to install the .NSP files. I could try double check some of these tests with devmenu \ tinfoil to see if there's any difference there.

Hi! thanks for the reply.

I sent you guys an email a few hours ago.
Pretty much standard setup. Switch with a Samsung Memory 128 GB EVO Plus SD card (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WR0HIR4/). I am playing handheld.

There are no obvious signs of corruption in the SD: I've been playing other titles from the SD too and never had a crash.
I have also been playing other graphic intense games for hours without any problem either, so this seems to be specific to this particular game.

First crash was while walking along the train tracks, just after leaving the little station to the left. Second crash just after the narrating voice in the bridge. 2 more crashes after exploring a few rooms in the first house( after the bridge, on the left hill) Fifth crash in the second large walking inside a room. I stopped playing at this point:)

The only thing I can think of is that I downloaded the game in an airport, so maybe the download got a bit corrupted? Since loading the same part of the game after a crash does not reproduce the crash it seems unlikely, but hey, weirder things happen.
I will delete it and redownload it tonight and see if that helps. the reviewer linked above also seemed to face some crashes, so I don't know.

The game is gorgeous and performance is very impressive. I'm really keen to keep playing it.

Could always go with a cheaper 128gb card. At this rate it would last you a full year before you filled it up.

This appears to be the card you were purchasing, with significantly different packaging. ( /r/ME4Twaffle linked you to the similar packaging but a different card to the one you have inside your pachaging (the plus) ).

Hey thanks for the reply, here are the cards I've tried:

Integral 256GB microSDXC upto 100MB/s V30 UHS-I U3

Samsung 128GB EVO Plus MicroSDXC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10

Samsung Mobile 256GB 95MB/s Class 10 U3

My original card was the 128, and then I upgraded earlier this year to the Integral 256. However, I noticed things loading MUCH slower than before (although I'm starting to think it was just a placebo...). Having formatted my 128 one I have gone back and redownloaded Smash but it's just as slow... this is why I'm wondering if it's something I've done to my Switch (or I've just forgotten that Smash was always slow to load)

Just saw that it is a UHS-1 :(

I am not well acknowledged when it comes to SD card hierarchy, what models will have better speeds?

Thanks, just one last question - I think that all makes sense, but do you think this card should be fine?

u/ThisOneTimeAtLolCamp · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Okay I really should buy an SD card. What am I looking for? 256 is out of the question because £120+ is too absurd for me.

Which one of these is it: This one or this one?

u/chepi888 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

No, you want EVO+.
