It's only $1k. You have that laying around right?

Samsung CHG90 Series Curved 49-Inch Gaming Monitor Looks like it's 1500$ from Samsung directly.

u/MarasmicX · 16 pointsr/pcmasterrace

That's pretty condescending. If you're a student or living on a single income, you're probably not even going to be able to afford this guys $900 monitor, let alone his entire build.

There's a lot money sank into this rig. Don't let the fact that it's actually tasteful, fool you.

That monitor is $1000 USD, the low quality of the mousepad and keyboard is insane lol

It's cheaper on Amazon, although only 1 left in stock... $949

Seems like a nice monitor but the vertical resolution is too low for me.

time to get me a wraparound 32:9 monitor so I can see those rogues sneaking up behind me

Why not get an ultra wide ?

You'd still even have budget for a whole other monitor if you still need work space.

I agree with the ultra wide option. Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA CHG90 Series Curved 49-Inch Gaming Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072C7TNC5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ieG7BbRBGZSTB but it's only 1080. Or this, but the ratio isn't as close to 3 monitors Dell Alienware 1900R 34.1", Curved Gaming Monitor LED-Lit, WQHD 3440 x 1440p Resolution, 4ms 120Hz Overclocked Refresh Rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, 21:9 Aspect Ratio, HDMI, Display Port, 4x USB 3.0, AW3418DW https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777RY75V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xfG7Bb35YP7T5. 3 of them.

It wasn't that hard to get them close enough for me, but someone more picky might go insane trying to get it perfect. I spent my insane points on getting it to line up perfectly instead lol.

Had I planned it out, I probably would have just done 3, 34 inch screens, but in the immortal words of Bob Ross, it was a happy accident.

Heres a link to the screens I have.

Standard 4K 16:9 TVs have a resolution of 3840x2160

Two stacked ultrawide monitors would come to 3440x2880, (assuming 1440p 21:9 UWs), which is neither 4K nor even 16:9 (it's closer to 11:9 if you're curious)

Even if you stacked two less common "4K Ultrawide" monitors, you're still looking at 3840x3200. So still not anywhere near the resolution or aspect ratio of a standard TV

Saying ultrawides are just half of a 4K is just plain wrong on almost every level I can think of

Edit: I found a monitor that is essentially half a 4K TV. But I don't think OP has two of these 49" 32:9 behemoths

u/AtlasSeven · 3 pointsr/simracing

I'm guessing they're either the Samsung CHG90 or the Samsung CRG9.

The Samsung CHG90 is 49", 144Hz (can be adjusted to 120Hz or 60Hz) and boasts a resolution of 3840x1080, while the CRG9 is also 49", locked at 120Hz but has a resolution of 5120x1440.

From what I've seen, the CHG90 retails at $990 USD and the CRG9 is priced at $1500 USD.

I've been looking to use these monitors for a new computer, so this picture piqued my interest as well, haha.

u/Kayden3 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Samsung recently made a rediculous 32:9 monitor(two 27" monitors side by side with no bezel). I've been wondering what it'd be like for sim racing.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-49-Inch-Curved-Monitor-LC49HG90DMNXZA/dp/B072C7TNC5

3820x1080, 144hz, 1ms. That's the CHG90 version. There's also another more expensive, the CRG90, which is 5120x1440, 120hz, 5ms.

u/BradlyL · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I’ve seen a lot of good responses to your question, but i was wondering the same thing, even after reading a lot of these response. Then I went to the Amazon listing and I watched the demo video they have (it’s the last ‘image’).

I had no idea games allow a wider perspective if you have a screen like this. Far different (better) than the monitor I use. I’m genuinely interested in buying one now.

u/Vertisce · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Double your price...go all out!

Christ...the URL posting rules are inane.

u/hitlersrighttesticle · 2 pointsr/Monitors

For that size, I would go 1440p. And with your budget, you can get this beautiful ultrawide alienware. It's a little cheaper.

By the way, not sure if it matters to you but Amazon has the same monitor for the same price. I generally prefer Amazon over Newegg because they have a more liberal return policy in case you have any dead pixels or change your mind. If price was cheaper on Newegg, I'd say go with Newegg. But with them being the same, Amazon is slightly better.

Yeah man I know what you mean. I looked online and saw the Samsung chg90 which is a 49" curved 144hz freesync but its still at 1080p. Im waiting for a beast curved 1440p/144hz ultrawide before I commit $1000~ towards a monitor. Ive had the same ASUS 21" eyefinity setup for like 5 years now and its still pretty good so im not in a rush. Hopefully around Christmas time or Q1 next year they start turning out 1440p 144hz monitors.

Free advertisement for samsung I guess but honestly feels like true diablo 1-2 again, no cartoony graphics cause of wide view angle.

u/werbyderk · 1 pointr/FortNiteBR

Unfortunately free sync, but honestly with a GTX 1070 I don’t see any screen tearing in fortnite at all. In more demanding games, yes, but in that case you could either turn down the refresh rate of the monitor or the video settings. The only other downside about that monitor is it’s just standard HD, not 1440p. Overall, it’s an amazing monitor nevertheless. Check it out here if it fits your budget

1080p is absolutely fine. It's ... just not the same as UW or triple wide. But, if you wanted to join the UW crowd there are plenty of options, including this one https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LC49HG90DMNXZA-Curved-49-Inch-Monitor/dp/B072C7TNC5 which is the same as 2 1080p monitors side by side (a whopping 32:9). Personally, I use an Acer XR382CQK which is "only" 24:9 - a single 1080p monitor is 16:9, and triple-wide is 48:9 but you have to deal with bezels - and all of these options require a moderately hefty graphics card especially if you use it on more demanding games.

But, 1080p is absolutely fine to use. I just prefer wider. :)

$869 on Amazon right now.

They've been down to $829 before.

u/Sylanthra · 1 pointr/Monitors

For work, I have one primary monitor and secondary monitor off to the side. For this set up 2 monitors is better than ultrawide. If you use both monitors equally, than an ultrawide is an option, but keep in mind that a 21:9 monitor provides less space than two 16:9 monitors. You might be interested in something like this which has a 32:9 aspect ratio.

If the primary use case is gaming, than go with an ultrawide, but keep in mind that your current set up will struggle playing anything more demanding than the type of games that you've listed.

u/giganticcobra · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

just an update i went to the store and complained about the problem, funny thing their display monitor doesnt have the same gap as mine they thought ok Quality assurance problem, so they opened another new box to replace my unit but there is still light leak and gap but very little which i cant swallow paying almost 1647 USD i told them you got like 10 pcs maybe you got a bad batch so I just asked for refund and they refunded me the whole amount, now im looking at options now but the only option that is available locally right now is the

The beasties, think it's still 16:9 lol. We do have 32:9 at 49" right now, though it's 1080p. I wonder when we'll see 4k ultrawides...what would that be 5###x2160?

u/Omniwar · 1 pointr/hardware

It's almost certainly a revision of the 1080p VA 49" they and other companies released last year with additional business features like the KVM switch, USB-C PD, and phone dock. That display was 144Hz so it will be interesting to see if that carries over.

Phillips is also supposedly coming out with a similar monitor in Q2 '18 with a Samsung panel, so that lines up with this product.
