There's the Staedler pencil which is getting excellent reviews, although I haven't tried it personally. There's the Tab S3 pen which is very good and a little larger than the "toothpick" pens. I personally use a Wacom Bamboo Feel but they don't seem to be available any more for a reasonable price. They were $30-$40, and now they're going for $100-$400...

If you can order from Fry's Electronics the Wacom stylus is in-stock. But I would rather get the Samsung S-Pen with eraser which is no longer manufactured or being sold. I'd buy that any day over any of the other official Samsung Note compatible pens.
You need a Wacom EMR pen/Samsung S Pen

or try one of the S-pen's...Wacom used to sell Wacom Bamboo Feel pens/Wacom Stylus Feel Carbon (CS-300/400) but they have discontinued them and they are hard to find and ridiculously expensive when you do, some selling for as much as $250 which is just ridiculous.
I've bought from this site and they have a Toshiba Trupen (EMR pen) i've used w/ the Surface Pro 1 for $8.

Holy smokes, I was gonna give link to the one I bought and didn't realize they're calling all those different types of pens under the same bamboo model.
Mine is one that works with wacom tablets and all the samsungs that used wacom induction tech.

If you search for Galaxy Note stylus they'll work with the pro/plus also. I've tested it with my daughter's old gnote and the gnote 10.1 2014's spen and they both work.
They both have S-Pens, and use the same technology.
As you can see with this Amazon listing, the Tab S3 S-Pen works with all Note phones.

Wow, they're finally adding Android snap? This makes me almost want to switch channels over to beta, but I'm sure it'll come to my CB soon. That functionality was really one of my biggest complaints and that'll allow me to park the monitor at school most of the time once it goes stable for me. If Chrome ever gets full MS office it'll easily be king of the options for students imo, but considering we got the android app unlocked <1 year ago I won't hold my breath.
I did look at that pencil and was really excited about it, but I shied away after a couple of the reviews mentioned it breaking or falling apart on them. I ended up getting the S pen for the Galaxy Book S, which is also a really great option in case you ever want an alternative too.

You can use pens from the old Thinkpad series.
x61 and so on, till I think the x201 The technology is called Wacom EMR.
Older Fujitsu pens work.
Samsung Note Pens work too.
Staedtler makes a 'Pencil' pen that works too.

Anything that has a battery won't work.
There are some EMR styluses that Wacom makes (after all Samsung used their EMR pannel in the v2 plus) . The ones I've seen recommended are the S-pens for the Tab S4 or the Tab S3.

Also these posts are from a while ago, but talk more about compatibility with the plus v1. I can confirm that the plus v2 works with the v1 stylus so you should be good!
