But they don't have that model in 128gb. The next step up is www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-128GB-Speeds-SDCZ88-128G-G46/dp/B00HR7FWUC/

Insanely fast but quite costly. I guess it depends on your use and if you are going to be doing things like booting or running programs off it.

Thanks. For anyone interested, this seems to have best speeds for usb flash (obviously external SSD is fastest if they work too): SanDisk Extreme PRO CZ88 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Speeds Up To 260MB/s

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HR7FWUC

Or even faster updated usb 3.1 version i just saw https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MU8TZRV/

The smaller flash drives seem to be just microSD card housings and so top out well under 100 MB/s write speed, a bit slow for copying 1440p/4K 60fps content.

Also went with a 128GB Samsung Evo Select SD card, much better write speeds than the Samsung Evo+ in the $99 immersive preorder promo.

I have the old version of this, bonkers quick drive.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HR7FWUC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1457644856&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=cruzer+extreme+pro&dpPl=1&dpID=41vJu6M%2BOqL&ref=plSrch

I know it's only 128mbGB, but with the write speeds adding and removing things is trivial.

> The build attached is the most powerful machine that I could price out per PassMark benchmarks, and I only broke $3000

..without the GPU. Or do you have the GPU already?

Anyway, cooler is not enough. You need something beefier, say the Noctua U12/14 etc.

Don't bother with 4266 ram, they aren't gonna reach that high.
Nor will you want to overclock that much on a work machine even if it could. You can get a 3200c14 set. If it can work at 3200 hassle free, then you're good. Else they'll work at 2666 and you would have spend not too much over the base price.

1TB NVME when you're not dealing with video is not needed. Get a smaller one and a large SATA SSD. Even a 512GB NVMe + 1TB SATA SSD will cost less than the 1TB NVMe.

What's the bluray recorder for? Are you still using bluray in your job? A sandisk extreme pro cz88 128gb usb 3.0 goes for $20 more than the drive, it's WAY faster and can tranfer 2x+ the amount a bluray dual layer. Assuming you don't keep backups on optical media but you need it just to transfer files to home or whatever.

Not sure why they wouldn't have tested this against the Sandisk Extreme Pro, since that is the obvious competitor for this product.

I disagree entirely. If you install it on a fast USB 3 thumbdrive, it can be just as fast as an SSD. Get a fast one like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HR7FWUC?keywords=128gb%20usb%20extreme&qid=1449768854&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

With that said, it obviously won't be as reliable and will eventually fail, quite likely faster than any SSD or Hard Drive that you have.

Not to phone, to a high speed usb 3.0 drive like sandisk extreme pro, with the OTG adapter that comes with the S8. Gets better speeds than an SD card.

Or slightly faster:

First, thousand of small files means you won't reach the advertised speed. You have wrong expectations on the advertised speed here.

Second, the comparison to PRO is not even apples to orange. It's apples to gold. Sandisk PRO is $108 vs this product, which is $44 without the price drop. At that price, you are better buying a mpcie/m.2 SSD and a USB 3 enclosure or even a regular 256GB SSD with enclosure if you dont mind the size but with double the capacity. But if you have $100 for a portable fast 128GB storage, I recommend MySSD OTG

I just googled "best USB 3.0 flash drives" and found this article. It says the Lexar P20 (64GB $30, 128GB $50) is the quickest to copy files and has the fastest read speeds, so I went ahead and bought it. Haven't had any problems using it as adoptive storage.

Found this site in shieldtvfan's link: http://usbflashspeed.com/128Gb

The Lexar ain't the best according to that site, but it's still hanging in with the top 3.
