Would strongly recommend a 250gb drive as space on a 128gb drives goes extremely quickly

This drive would be great.

Haha, I feel you-- I do miss the days when a console was a console and you didn't have to worry about customizing it to improve performance.

Here's the drive and the external enclosure I'm using, total $59.98:

There are better SSD drives that that one, but the PS4 OS is not optimized for SSD so other people's tests show the better drives aren't any faster than lower-end drives. If you're buying one for a PC, then you might want to spring for a Samsung or something, but it's not necessary on PS4.

Edit: Ah, wait, that's not the exact same drive I'm using. Mine is listed as 250GB. This one is listed as 240GB. I think the minimum PS4 can use externally is 250GB. I know there's funny business in hard drive capacities due to the next step of bytes being 1024, not an even 1000, but I don't know if it would make this 240GB not meet PS4's "250" requirement or not. Might want to go with something explicitly 250GB to be safe.

Edit 2: Wow, Amazon actually has the Samsung brand 250GB for only $57 on sale today. I added that link if anyone's interested.

You can return games if you directly buy them from steam and play for less than 2 hours. Having a ssd instead of a hd has changed my life. If you have $50-100 you should upgrade that. Your GPU will likely play many games just fine. It might not work well for games where the camera moves. Games like rollercoasters and FPS make some people very sick if the framerate is not high enough. I nope out of most coaster apps immediately. Skyrim makes me mildly sick with a rx480. There is one low quality coaster app that does not bug me at all.

You might not love fallout 4 vr as much as you would guess. I LOVE Skyrim. I have only played 10-15 mins in vr. The menus and controls are not great. It feels very awkward. My framerate is barely good enough to avoid nausea with free movement. I have not tried teleportation yet. I will mod it for speech control and max my carry weight so I can ignore most of the ui. I hear that FO4vr has most of the same issues and you cant mod it. I also love FO4 but I will wait for a sale and might return it.

I have an i3-3225 and rx480

According to CamelCamelCamel it was much lower about 1 year ago. However, this increase could be due to the shortage of memory.

If you've got amazon prime you can get this 240GB Sandisk ssd for £30.

u/HeckMaster9 · 5 pointsr/PUBGXboxOne

You don't need to spend that much. This Sandisk 240GB model along with this SATA III to USB 3 cable will do just as well for less money, but it won't look as pretty lol.

u/epicmud7 · 5 pointsr/G502MasterRace

Not as much as they used to be. You can get a 120GB one for under $50 https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-120GB-SDSSDA-120G-G26-Newest-Version/dp/B01F9G43WU/
If you only got 8GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD, that should pay for it. You could always just get one later, but that would involve having to reinstall your OS and move everything over which can be a bit of a hassle.

u/darkworldaudio · 4 pointsr/Reaper

Reaper doesn't have any system requirements as such, if your device can run an OS, it can run Reaper, that's basically it.

The better the processor you have the more plugins and effects you can use. The more RAM you have the more plugins you can load in or libraries you can use at the same time. If you can get hold of an audio interface it will give you an improved latency.

Might need to aim for a used laptop so check gumtree and such. Go for as fast a processor as possible with multiple cores, as much RAM as you can get, and ideally an SSD drive.

To give you and idea I picked up a used dual-core laptop with 4 GB Ram for ~£150 and installed a new 60GB SSD [£40 at the time] into it, something like this. I only use it for mic recording via Reaper and watching The Simpsons, but I'm certain it can handle a view plugins and some MIDI.

u/invx · 4 pointsr/hardware

so how many exactly? what system would actually profit by this? oems cut costs for every cent. the new optane is ~77$ for 32gb. that already gets you a 240gb ssd (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-240GB-SDSSDA-240G-G26-Newest-Version/dp/B01F9G43WU/ref=pd_cp_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01F9G43WU&pd_rd_r=4ASW9036YW134MWVXZW3&pd_rd_w=2IcWX&pd_rd_wg=sRbZu&psc=1&refRID=4ASW9036YW134MWVXZW3)

add a 1tb drive to that for around ~50 and you can already go for a 500gb ssd main drive. it makes absolutely no sense in a consumer world at all.

I would recommend installing an SSD as your boot drive, and you can install those same files onto the SSD, and then using the 1TB drive as storage, in the ultrabay. (Ultrabay is the 'port' where the CD/DVD drive currently would be installed)

You can buy a cheap adapter here, and a good cheap SSD here.

Good luck! W530 is a great machine :D

u/fritsypeij · 3 pointsr/macbook

To use the newest Chrome on Mac, you'll need OS X Mavericks 10.9 or later.

You can upgrade to 10.11 (El Capitan). Sadly, this will most probably slow down your computer in its current state. Like /u/Nera2626 said, you can upgrade the hardware as well, which will help with the speed on the newer OS versions. The maximum memory your laptop accepts is 8GB of PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz (SO-DIMM) RAM. An SSD wil further increase speed.

Edit: Not really sure where you're from, but here's a list on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Channel-204-Pin-Laptop-SO-DIMM/dp/B00505EZYW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498659075&sr=8-2&keywords=so-dimm+ddr3+1066

So you could be back on track for less than $150 if you know someone that can help you install it.

u/Viznab88 · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Highly recommend you skip the 500GB HDD and go with a smaller SSD. It's going to be dog-slow on a conventional drive with boot times in the absolute shitter, even if it's got a tiny bit of hybrid cache, and that is a ridiculously expensive drive for only 500GB too.

For instance this one or even this will be a million times better and is the absolute must-change for this build.

She can always get an external drive for large cheap slow storage once she runs out of space.

u/thefanum · 3 pointsr/linuxhardware

Sure, here's a super cheap SSD of equivalent capacity:

SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB Internal SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm - SDSSDA-240G-G26

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9G43WU/

If you want to get a different SSD, just make sure it's a 2.5in SATA. I like SanDisk, Samsung and Intel brand SSD's.

Here's a 4gb Stick that should be compatible (don't hold me to that, and make sure you can return it if it isn't):

Lenovo 55Y3711 RAM Module - 4 GB - DDR3 SDRAM - 1333MHz DDR3-1333/PC3-10600 - ECC - 204-pin SoDIMM

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BC5ZBI/

That will get you up to 8GB or 6GB, depending on if it comes with 1 4gb or 2 2gb sticks. Either will be better than 4.

And here's some generic info and resources I like to give new Linux users:

The biggest change from the Windows world will be the different interfaces to choose from. While they're one of the best features of Linux, the number of choices and strong opinions on the matter can be overwhelming to new users. And everyone in the community is certain that theirs is the best. Don't stress out about picking the "right" one. You can always change it later (especially if you choose something Ubuntu based). Pick one that has a large user base, good community, and excellent documentation.

Linux comes in many different flavors, or "Distributions". Often shortened to "Distros". The most obvious difference between Distros is the interface (or "Desktop Environment" or "DE"). It's not the only thing that sets them apart, but it's the most noticeable.

I would recommend Ubuntu or any one of it's variants. The best variants (in my opinion) are Linux mint and Linux Lite. Linux Lite having the most "Windows like" interface. Linux Lite also has additional tools to install common programs that Windows users are accustomed to. Ones that don't come with other Distros by default.

Until recently Ubuntu used an interface called "Unity". As of the last couple of releases, they have switched to Gnome. However, they've made gnome look a lot like Unity, so you should be able to follow instructions you find on the internet without too much trouble.

Gnome has a ton of customizations available via the "Gnome extensions" website. If you're willing to relearn how to interact with your computer's interface, it's a good fit for someone who wants customization.

Been lurking for a bit, never posted. I’m attempting my first build in 15 years so I have a question that I’m not sure warrants it’s own post so I’m bringing it here.

Looking to do things on a tight budget so I’m going the seemingly tried and true optiplex upgrade route. I’m looking at the following at the moment:

Dell Optiplex 9010(Intel Core i7-3770) or 9020(Intel Core i7-4770), and hopefully having 16gb ram off, EBay and adding the following:

Gpu: GTX 1060 6gb used off EBay

EVGA 450 BT 80+ Bronze 450w psu
https://www.amzn.com/B01N9X3F8F

SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB
https://www.amzn.com/B01F9G43WU

What am I missing as far as issues/conflicts etc? Will I be bottlenecking my cpu with the 1060? Is there a better build within a $100-$150 range that I should be considering? Any other thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Phil found your post on ifixit and I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment....with the exception of this:

DO NOT REINSTALL WINDOWS IF YOUR DATA IS ON THAT DRIVE!

Take it to a shop or PM and I can give you some links to a few programs that MIGHT be able to read the hard drive (HDD) and hopefully recover things off of it. You will need a USB or an external HDD to put those files on to it.

If you do need another drive I recommend a SSD (Solid State Drive) as they are much more efficient / faster / life longer / and can make an older computer feel brand new :).

I'd recommend this one (SSD if you don't need a ton of storage space of course). If you need a HDD then I'd say this one.

EDIT - you MIGHT be able to access Windows again but you need to access the BIOS, that is what the toshiba setup utility is. So if you access your BIOS (typically turn the computer on and spam the crap out of F11 / F12 / delete all at the same time...it will either bring up a one time boot menu which has bios near the bottom OR it will go right into bios).

Once you are in the bios you can choose the correct boot device with the arrow keys.

Any DVD/CD or USB flash drive inserted? Remove and try booting again :)

I ended up going with this 240 gb SanDisk (new version) for $78.99 on amazon. Specs out pretty much the same as the 850 evo.

u/C018Y_ · 2 pointsr/computers

For in between $500 and $550, I would take a look at the ASUS VivoBook F510UA. It's a 15.6" laptop with an i5-8250U, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB HDD, and is only 0.8" thick and 3.7lbs. Unfortunately, the configuration to add a 128GB SSD is an extra $100 for some reason, but if you aren't happy with the HDD's speed, it has an M.2 slot that you can utilize to add an SSD, or just remove the HDD altogether and put in a 2.5" SSD.

I'd searched a couple of days ago, but this has a year of warranty left. On this machine, you could install an FHD screen, throw in a decent SSD, add a new 9-cell battery, and still have a bit of money left :)

You could also add in a quad core i7 somewhere down the line if needed. the CPU can be swapped. I'm a bit busy right now, but, I'll come back with more options later in the day.

Finally, after all these reviews, i'm going to buy these pieces and build my masterpiece-wannabe.

I would like to thanks /u/Raffles7683 for his dedicated, nice and smart help ! Also, thanks to /u/DIK-FUK and /u/golli123.

That's it, the final configuration, which is 2€ cheaper than the first one. WHAT A SAVE. But it's all the way better. I finally picked a I7-6700k as a CPU since nobody seems to know at which point a I5-6600k will bottleneck the GTX 1080, even with a 4.5 Ghz overclock. The debate is running litteraly everywhere and no one has the same point of view. So... I guess i can throw 100€ by the window to be sure and to overlock a i7 to 4.4 Ghz.

  1. You could try some data recovering guides, like this one. Or if you don't want to take any risks (if the data is really important) you could go to a data recovery specialist, but that's going to cost a fair bit.

  2. There are some services that let you stream games from a cloud service - that is, the game plays on their servers and a client takes input from you. This is plagued with latency issues though. As for loading game files from the cloud, I don't think this has been done so far, and even if it had, the loading times would be abysmal and eat up your bandwidth like crazy.

  3. I've heard you can't go wrong with anything from SanDisk, Crucial or Silicon Power. In fact, I've been eyeing this one as an upgrade to my own rig. If you want to go cheaper you can go 120GB, but that isn't going to leave much room for games if your only other drive is 47GB.
u/RickyShade · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Nice. Though 120GB isn't space for much. Windows, apps, and ONE big game is all you could fit on there. For only a $25 more you can double the size: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9G43WU/ref=twister_B01FVDTA0G?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

u/Trey5169 · 2 pointsr/computers

What are you trying to do on this laptop? If the load times kill you, a simple SSD upgrade could be your cup of tea, but this depends on how much storage you need.

The TL;DR here is that a HDD is slow but cheap. You can get a 1 TB HDD for $45 (Note that a 3.5 inch drive is for desktops, and a 2.5 inch drive is for laptops.) But because of the price difference of SSDs, you get about half the storage at twice the price. So if you're storing word documents, and maybe even excel documents, then you can get a small SSD and be done with it. But if you're storing videos or pictures en mass, you most likely can't afford to sacrifice the storage space / price, which means you have to deal with the slower HDD.

Edit: To answer your other question - Buying a used desktop shouldn't be a problem, especially if you're on a very tight budget. But if you can afford it, this seems to be a good computer for the price. You could remove the optical drive (cd / dvd drive) to install a SSD if you want, and have a very small & cheap SSD for boot and programs, and a large SSD for storage. Of course realize that this purchase does not include peripherals, so you'd need to budget for a separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse at minimum. Maybe a PCI-e wifi card or something similar if you need wireless access.

u/ENTPilot · 2 pointsr/PUBGXboxOne

Even 240GB will work. But, I believe that's the absolute bare minimum. Bought this guy along with an enclosure and it's been working like a dream:

  • How will I know if the cooler is going to fit and not be in the way of anything?

So uh.. Yeah. I'm a noob. Kind of did some changes.. Changed the monitor to a 144Hz for that juicy CS:GO gameplay, got a far more aesthetically pleasing case, which also comes with 4 fans, as opposed to 2. They don't have the fancy lighting though, so I added a good red LED strip. As for the peripherals, I only need a keyboard, and my good friends over at /r/MechanicalKeyboards hooked me up with one of the best currently available on the market! Again, sorry for all the fuss, I don't mean to say you did a bad job recommending just idk I really care about looks and it drives me crazy if things don't look right to me.

Only compatibility issue that was given was this:

"The NZXT H440 (Matte Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 406mm long, but video cards over 294mm may block drive bays. Since the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Windforce OC Video Card is 298mm long, some drive bays may not be usable."

From this I gather that I just barely won't be able to use one of the drive bays, which shouldn't be a problem at all.

Sorry again! And thanks again! Uggh

Edit: These are all of the right parts, correct? Just want to make sure because it's 6 am and I haven't gone to sleep yet.

Hey man, thanks for typing all that, it was a really nice and informative read!

I don't play any PC or Microsoft Store games, I use my laptop only for work, mail app, few other apps and browser. So it's just everyday tasks.

I would love to get an SSD upgrade along with an RAM upgrade. My laptop makes fan and disk sound everytime I open an app. I would benefit greatly from upgrading both haha.

Your links attached do not work, it says it couldn't find the pages. Here are the [SSD] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F9G43WU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1) and [RAM] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LTJJM2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A26PVB3960EU85&psc=1) I was looking on Amazon last night. Please give these a look and let me know whether they will be compatible with my laptop.

Very easy, in fact X230 might be one of the easiest, just like the other person said you only need to unscrew one captive screw, remove the door and pull on the black thing and the HDD will slide out, and then just slide the SSD.

I use this SSD with my X230, it is cheap, big enough for my uses and fast, but any 2.5" SATA SSD will be fine.

I've owned and used a Samsung 840 Pro with my Xbox for over 3 years now, if you can afford one then there's zero reason not to buy one. Loading times improve immensely for every game, not just PUBG. When BF1 launched my buddies always wondered how i managed to get a tank at the start of every single round - it was purely because i was loaded into the map/game well before anyone else (30 secs or so compared to one of my mates when we timed it).

Do you have a spare £40?

Sorry but im from UK so not sure how much help I can be.

The best deal you could find would probs be on ebay or craigslist (depending on location) and would be secondhand. If you don't fancy this I would say go to any laptop site (thats does multiple brands) and try put in some min specs and sort price low to high.

Something like this: https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/st/core-i5-laptops?sortOrder=1

Suggested min specs: i5, 4gb ram (8gb preferable).

Hard drive is tricky; I wouldnt reconmend anyone not to use an SSD nowadays, but finding one included in a laptop at that price may be difficult. Could be a better idea to get one with an old HDD then buy an SSD seperate and replace the HDD with it (should only be about $30 for a 256gb one, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-240GB-Solid-State-SDSSDA-240G-G26/dp/B01F9G43WU/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=ssd&qid=1554113248&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A14027458011&rnid=6797515011&s=pc&sr=1-6)

A recent i5 will run you about $200 give or take just by itself. Since you will most likely get a locked CPU don't get an overclocking mobo the manufacturer would pretty much be your preference, as to the SSD sandisk is pretty good. For the RAM, gskill and Kingston are really good and competitively priced.

But wait, there's more!

Home->System->Notifications & Actions: all off

Windows Update Settings->Advanced Options->Choose how updates are delivered: off

OEM bloat, just don't try. A new computer needs to have windows re-installed as step #1.

  1. Go to Download Windows 10 and download the media creation tool.
  2. Run the media creation tool which will allow you to create a windows 10 installation usb.
  3. Visit Lenovo Support and lookup your model then download the network drivers. Shouldn't need them but put them on a different flash drive for if WiFi doesn't work after install.
  4. I'm just going to ext link you the rest, there are also plenty of threads in this sub describing the rest. How to Clean Install Windows 10 from USB
  5. Windows should just activate itself and do a lot of updating, safe to start the stuff above as soon as it first boots.

Owning macs for the past 3-4 years you are coming from a SSD to a slow HDD. It will get better after a week and significantly better after you do what pokebud said. Best case though is it rearing its ugly head daily at least a few times.
  6. Replace 2.5 HDD with 2.5 SSD
    84USD Generic SanDisk 250
    Lose 750GB
    -10-20% drive power consumption
  7. Add NVMe SSD
    120USD 960 Evo 250
    Gain 250GB
    +15-30% drive power consumption
I don't think this machine supports m.2 AHCI so you need to buy a NVMe. Apparently option is in BIOS but drives aren't working? If you return it for a model with a SSD it will come with hynix at a cost to you of 160, the samsung is faster and cheaper.

On a 5400 drive you shouldn't be using superfetch.
  8. Open services.msc
  9. Open properties of Superfetch
  10. Change startup type to disabled

Between resmon and Process Explorer you should be able to see what is accessing the drive.
u/btodalee · 1 pointr/buildapc

  • Sandisk Ultra 3D NAND 250GB : 550/525 RW Speeds : 3D TLC : $89

120gb pushing your space limits.

The 120gb->250gb cost is $5-$10, it's definitely worth it to pay that to avoid running out of space because of silly issues like OS updates, or download/caches that don't get cleared.

The other thing is that Kingston is really bottom of the barrel for ssd's. Sandisk makes better budget drives in my opinion:

The fusion drive is probably the root of your problem, I bet you're saturating it causing it to perform like a slow HDD. I'd get a USB 3 sled and an inexpensive SATA 6 SSD from Amazon and run your VMs from there. It'll take the IO off of your Fusion drive. As a bonus, your VMs should perform really really well.

Only $10 for a far better space situation.

Your hard drive is more than likely dead - use this as an excuse to get an ssd

u/ML_me_a_sheep · 1 pointr/MachineLearning

I would very intensely recommend the SSD ! Once you've tried it, you can't go back ;)

And it's not that expensive for a 1080Ti owner :)

From what I can tell the 535 is a SATA SSD (SATA is in back, M.2 in front here)

If it's actually SATA you could get this

Or if it's M.2 get this

Im in the US, so I'm not sure how those will correlate to wherever you are, but using a basic currency converter, those should be around your price point.

Flexible on ssd price? The current gen Sandisk SSD Plus 240GB is going for $77 new.

Although I am trying to weight price vs performance, the comparison shows the EVO getting read speads almost 400% higher than the mx300. That seems like enough performance gain to make the extra money worth it. I think if I just want more storage, I could throw in a 250GB SSD for an extra $85.

The 2009 MacBook Pro accepts the 2.5 inch drive form factor, the products linked below are matched to be compatible with your laptop. Please do double check online for your model.

Since you're looking for a budget SSD I highly recommend the Crucial MX300 by Micron and the SanDisk SSD Plus.

Both have great performance and beats your budget goal.

Could also just ditch the PSU, 2tb drive, and get a cheaper ssd and reuse the Corsair cooler. That gets you mighty close to a 1070.

Look at your local craigslist for cpus and gpus, it's a great place to start. You should look at 3/4/5/6 gen i5s or i7s.

For AMD, I would stay away from AM3+ because there's no upgrade path. You may want to get an athlon x4 950 because it's AM4.

For used gpus, I made a list of good ones to look at for your price point.

AMD/ATI 5970, 6950, 6970, 6990, 7850, 7870, 7950, 7970 (I don't know much about amd cards past this)

gtx 480, 580, 590, 680, 670, 660, 690, 660ti, 750ti (Would personally avoid this, the price to performance isn't that great), 760, 770

------------------------

Prices:

$20-80 for gpu

$40-60 for cpu

$40-50 for mobo

$20 for case (or find an old one on craigslist for cheap)

$20-40 for psu (Corsair: VS550/CX550 EVGA: 550W White/450 Bronze) There's a EVGA 450 Bronze on amazon warehousedeals for $20 right now https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01N9X3F8F/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

$10-30 cpu cooler (look on craigslist, used coolers should be around $10-15)

$80 8gb ddr4 ram (most expensive part unfortunately, but get an 8gb stick.) If you buy a ddr3 platform, 8gb should cost about $30.

$40-50 1TB HDD (Please don't buy used or the cheapest, look at the reviews, and buy from a reputable company. Data loss is a bitch)

$70 240 GB SSD (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-240GB-Solid-State-SDSSDA-240G-G26/dp/B01F9G43WU)

Total for tower with a 5970/Athlon X4 950/8gb: $370

You can usually find a used 1080p monitor on craigslist for $20 and there's a mouse/keyboard combo on amazon for $15

Total: $405

--------------------------------------

Look at deals and you can get a lot of those parts for less. It may be better to get a 120gb ssd for $40 and a much better graphics card. The SSD isn't needed, but your system will feel much faster.

u/SouthurnCumfart · 1 pointr/PUBGXboxOne

This is not true. I purchased this SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB Solid State Drive over the weekend for my X1S. Plugged in, formatted, transferred PUBG to it and now the game runs as good as if not better than X1X. Can someone explain the thought/reasoning behind needing 256gb because 240gb is working just fine for me

u/NeedISOplz · 1 pointr/buildapc

I don't know what price it shows for you but if its $500 like it shows for me 100% no. If its $270~ it seems okay, but personally I wouldn't go for it. The cpu it has only has 2 cores, which I find makes things feel "slow", especially if you have a few programs going at once. Not to mention it has a meh hdd which wouldn't be any faster than the one in your current computer. I've just tried looking around for a new computer but I can't find one within your price range that won't end up feeling as slow as your current computer in a few months. If you are 100% sure they won't accept a refurb and its <$300, I don't see much alternative. If you can convince them to use a refurb just buy this and put one of these in it and they will be MUCH happier and can go longer without an upgrade.

u/Flying_Spaghetti_ · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I dont think the 6gb version will be much bigger, however, it will list its length in the description. The case will also list a maximum GPU length, so you can compare those numbers.

This is a pretty decent SSD for the price, you can go smaller but you are getting much less value. A little extra SSD space is nice to have.

u/memoriesofmotion · 1 pointr/synology

You know, 230read and 400write isn't anything to scoff at as well. Maybe the raid 10 is being slowed down by the fact that the card still has to write the data to the mirror. Maybe something else you could try is tossing a cheep SSD in there on its own and see what kinda throughput you get on it. u/hybridhavoc · 1 pointr/PUBGXboxOne

Yeah that's not bad, though the price could be a bit better. It's a single self-contained unit so it makes things much easier for you. But even just buying an SSD intended for internal use in a PC along with an external housing would not break the bank and isn't especially difficult to deal with. You pop open the enclosure, slide in the SSD to the port, close the enclosure, and plug into the Xbox and format.

For example, you could go with this SanDisk SSD for US$33.99 and this Sabrent enclosure for US$8.99

120gb is way too small. 240 or 256gb is the minimum capicity I would get, even if you're not gaming (but especially if you are)

You can get a sandisk 240gb ssd for $70, so it's actually cheaper per GB than a $40 120gb ssd

u/some_craic_dealer · 1 pointr/buildapc

So helping a friend out, their old HDD failed this week and they are looking for cheap SSD to get the PC back up and running asap. The three I am looking at are:

  1. ADATA Premier SP550 240GB
  2. Kingston SSDNow UV400 240 GB
  3. SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB

I know they are 3 form the budget end but they don't want to spend too much right now and prefer to get a cheap one to make do, then over the coming months keep an eye out for good deals on better drives.

I'm in US, but looking on Amazon UK, this looks about fair.

u/Adrii619 · 1 pointr/buildapc

You might want to:

Instad of buying the i3-6100 buying the i5-6400, in amazon.co.cuk it's only 60 punds more.

And instead of this motherboard, buy another H1100 which is 20 pounds cheaper. So in total you spend 40$ more but you get more power and a i5, regardless, do research if it meet your needs!

And [this ssd is cheaper] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-PLUS-Sata-inch-Internal/dp/B01F9G43WU/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1483976661&sr=1-3&keywords=ssd)

However, I'm not an expert but I would consider it, get more opinions!

A shame you feel that way.

The PC master race requires compliance.
Not having an SSD on a gaming box at this point makes you a console gamer in a PC case.

HOLY HELL even overpriced/overtaxed UK has a 240GB SSD for under $50 pounds!

The video card might be a little overkill for me. It would be nice if I can go lower the price in that area. Is a 470 4GB good enough for me if the most demanding game I'm planning to play is witcher 3 on 1080p?

I also need an SSD. Would this be good in that build?
