Why? Just why. You can use this adapter for 3 bucks and use any thumb drive, mouse, keyboard and other usb devices.

If you have a PS3 Controller, you can connect it through bluetooth to your phone using this app. You can also use something like this to directly connect to your phone with the USB cable you have with your controller.

Did anyone catch the usb cable name? It sounded like "host," but I'm not finding much that way and I'm having a hard time hearing clearly.

Is he not talking about one of these?

If I understand what you want to do correctly you need this

And then just use the cable you normally use to connect your external HDD.

I haven't tested this so don't know if it's possible but you could try plugging one of [these] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-USB-Male-Female-Adapter/dp/B0027YYMU6) into the GoPro and connect the HDD to that via a USB cable. I have a feeling that the GoPro may say 'No SD' but if you have one of these then it's worth a try

You could always manually flash the new update, this thread on XDA may help you out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415497

Alternatively, the safer and easier option would be to plug in a USB mouse into your tablet using something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Micro-USB-Male-Female-Adapter/dp/B0027YYMU6
The first Nexus 7 supported external devices like this so I would assume the new one does as well.

Yeah, something like this and then maybe a USB hub.

I've used USB ports on Android set top boxes and in all cases they have accepted keyboard, mouse, and USB sticks. The iStick even accepts USB drives.

Found the adaptor.

It doesn't have external storage per se, but if Android gets loaded and USB host mode is supported you can just throw in a thumb drive with a microUSB adapter

My experience with longer cables is that the little hooks on the micro usb end (that connect it to the DS4) tend to wear out faster due to the additional strain. It's the same concept as an anchor/chain.

It isn't the anchor that holds a ship anchored and stationary, but the weight and length of the chain on the ocean floor. A ship usually lays out a length of chain 5-7 times the depth of water (surface area). The longer the cable you use, the more force is placed on the connectors whenever the cable draws taught.

To combat this I actually bought a cheap full size USB adapter and permanently hot glued it into the DS4 microUSB port. The full size USB cables have no issue.

That's what I used. Not an ideal solution for most but it works fairly well without adding significant bulk or fragility to the controller.
