Wall of text incoming, along with the products that work for me. YMMV with individual products, of course!

All of these are just what I use, and all have alternatives that may work better for you and/or be cheaper. This has evolved over the past two years, I didn't just pick all this up at once and start throwing it on my skin - start slow, and see how your skin adjusts to each step for a week or so before moving onto another product.

I do my "skin routine" morning and evening, with some variations depending on how much time I have and what time of day it is.

First, hydration. Looks like you've taken care of that one! Water, water, and more water is what helped the most. I go through roughly 3L of water at work if not more, plus more once I get home.

Second, I never use foaming cleansers. I cut out anything with foams, and went with a two step cleansing process: first, oil cleansing (I use Banila Clean It Zero) to get rid of the bulk of my makeup. Then I follow with a cream cleanser (Guerlain Lait de Beauty, but there are MANY more affordable options out there).

Then I use a toner. But not the stripping, Sea Breeze type toner, a moisturizing one. Currently using HadaLabo Hyaluronic Lotion. Don't let the "acid" fool you - hyaluronic acid is extremely moisturizing.

Every 3-4 days in the evenings, I use a chemical exfoliator (NEVER physical, my skin can't take it) in the form of a BHA and AHA. BHAs remove gunk from pores, AHAs strip dead skin. Both mine are from cosrx:

https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-bha-blackhead-power-liquid

https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-aha-7-whitehead-power-liquid

Some people leave them for 20 minutes, I don't have the patience, I just go right into the next step and add a sheet mask. If you're new to actives, this will be too often - do them once a week, max.

Then the fun part - sheet masks. I looove sheet masks. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Anything with Hyaluronic acid is my go to. My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic Acid is a staple. I let that sink in while doing whatever around the house. I do one of these a few times a week, every night if I can.

Then I go onto moisturizing. I have a variety of serums, essences, and oils that I use depending on how dry my skin feels, but my basic routine goes:

If my skin is extra dry, I add in an extra moisturizing step here. I use Miss Flower and Mr Honey in summer, Scinic All in One honey ampoule in winter. Or sometimes I use Guerlain Face Treatment Oil.

If my skin is red, I add in CosRX Snail 96 to help control it.

Separate eye cream, ALWAYS. Right now I'm loving Clarins Super Restorative eye cream.

Then the big moisturizers:

History of Whoo Jinyul Essence

History of Whoo Jinyul Cream

Final step for day, sunscreen - Biore Watery Essence SPF50 for daytime. Skipped at night for obvious reasons.

For the night routine, before bed I apply one of these masks:

CosRX Honey Mask

CosRX Rice Mask

Guerlain Abeille Royale Honey Mask

These give extra moisture at night while you're sleeping.

Again, this is not something that happened overnight - I can almost guarantee if someone takes this list and throws it all at their face at once, they'll end up a mess. I added things slowly.

If I was going to recommend an order, I'd go with this:

  • If you're using a foaming cleanser, replace it with a cream cleanser the next time it runs out. No need to waste things.

    Wait a week.

  • Add a GENTLE AHA. This will help remove dead skin and reduce dryness. Just once a week, no more.
  • Add a Hyaluronic acid sheet mask, like the MBD one. It's affordable, and relaxing.

You could swap the above two if you have a lot of cleanser left.

    Wait a week.

Once you're used to those, add an essence. Something very moisturizing and rich.

    Wait a week.

Look at adding in a sleeping pack.

From there, pick what you'd like to address and add them in.

I know it's a lot to take in, so if you have specific questions about any of this, just ask.

On this note, the Scinic AIO Honey Ampoule is $15 with prime shipping on Amazon and this is the lowest price I've ever seen. Its usually around $18-$20. I grabbed one!

I stumbled upon this subreddit, and am so excited to discover Asian beauty. I live outside the U.S. and had someone coming to visit, so everything I purchased was from Amazon Prime so that I could get it in time. Also, being such a newbie here, shopping on other sites is a bit intimidating for me. I thought this would be helpful to others that are just starting out with Asian beauty.

My SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule is in plastic because the lid came loose in transit and spilled everywhere, but there is still half of it in there. So far I have tried a few face masks, and I am in love. I am so excited to try it all! :)

SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule is amazing. It moisturises and instantly sinks in. I have taken a shower, shaved, put this on and gone to class 45 minutes later with no worries and sticking to the pole just fine. It is all I use now prior to poling.

RAVE Dermal Sheet Masks 24 pack

These sheet masks are so affordable, fun and soothing. I do notice that they all moisturize nicely and there is so much extra serum in each packet. I haven't had any issues with them at all as far as breakouts are concerned and love using these daily. They all smell decent and the sheet paper is quality for the price. I love these things.

RAVE Drunk Elephant Protini.
This is definitely a HOLY GRAIL product for me and I will continue to re-purchase. No issues with breakouts. It smells AMAZING. I get these weird little bursts of cinnamon in between the lily scent. It leaves my skin feeling like a very healthy sea creature. Like just so soft.

RANT Scinic Honey all-in-one ampoule.
Scinic Honey
I WANTED TO LOVE THIS STUFF. It smells AMAZING. But I literally noticed no difference in my skin after using for a month and even got closed comedones on my forehead after use. I just wish this was everything I wanted it to be.

I'm not a doctor, so if you've been prescribed tret, I would talk with your doc before adding any additional products. That said, if your skin can handle it and your doctor doesn't tell you not to, you could try adding AmLactin. Retinoids and AHAs [are different chemicals] (https://phamix.com/2008/12/alpha-hydroxy-acids-or-retinol-which-is-best) so it's possible adding one would do something slightly different for your skin.

In terms of how many products you can use, it's entirely up to you. I use anywhere from 2 to 8 or 9 products at once layered /r/AsianBeauty style, including mixing (NON-prescription strength) retinoids with an AHA. On a normal day I just use glycolic acid + CeraVe (2 products). But on a weekend evening before bed, I'll take a bath using [zinc soap] (https://www.amazon.com/DermaHarmony-Pyrithione-Zinc-ZnP-Soap/dp/B00MWB0ZGE/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493411293&sr=8-5&keywords=zinc+soap) and [physically exfoliate] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007IAE5WY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in the tub, spray my skin with a [low-Ph toner] (https://www.amazon.com/Cosrx-Clarifying-Treatment-Toner-150ml/dp/B00OZ63ODA/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1493411340&sr=1-2&keywords=mizon+aha+bha+toner), apply a [Vitamin C serum] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00THEGVCG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1), then an [AHA gel] (https://www.amazon.com/Paulas-Choice-Resurfacing-Treatment-Exfoliant/dp/B00DH21DBS/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1493411427&sr=1-5&keywords=paula%27s+choice+aha+gel), then some [Retinol Cream] (https://www.amazon.com/Retinol-Surge-Moisturizer-Cream-2-5/dp/B00OQQLNG4/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1493411480&sr=1-1&keywords=body+merry+retinol), then a [more moisturizing cream] (https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Moisturizing-Cream-Pump-Ounce/dp/B01CTRLLFE/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493411504&sr=1-3&keywords=cerave+cream), then top it all off with an [occlusive] (https://www.amazon.com/Aquaphor-Advanced-Therapy-Ointment-Protectant/dp/B00IB0X5FS/ref=sr_1_1?srs=7301146011&ie=UTF8&qid=1493411531&sr=8-1&keywords=aquaphor) to seal in all that moisture. I might even throw an extra layer of or two of [moisturizing toner] (https://www.amazon.com/ORGANIC-ROSE-WATER-SPRAY-Uplifting/dp/B00YMMENPK/ref=sr_1_15_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493411630&sr=8-15&keywords=rose+water+toner), [tea tree oil] (https://www.amazon.com/Pure-Tea-Tree-Essential-Oil/dp/B018J6KIBW/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493411669&sr=8-5&keywords=tea+tree+serum), [snail gel] (https://www.amazon.com/Mizon-Snail-Recovery-Gel-Cream/dp/B00BQM3S3C/ref=sr_1_9_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493411704&sr=8-9&keywords=snail+gel), or [honey ampoule] (https://www.amazon.com/SCINIC-Honey-Ampoule-Types-Whitening/dp/B00STAV016/ref=sr_1_9_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493410839&sr=8-9&keywords=honey+cream) in there if I think my skin needs extra redness reduction. Is that excessive? Absolutely. But I put all that stuff on my face to make my skin happy, so I don't see why the rest of my body shouldn't be allowed to occasionally join the party.

This is the one I got her:

It's HUGE so i was able to have suffient enough for her and myself. I really like the honey one so I am probably going to try the AQUA one next as well.

u/Betulaceae · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

For flaking skin, I love to read /u/Sharkus_Reincarnus 's blog posts. She is on tretinoin too and talks a lot about hydrating skincare products. Here is her routine specifically for tretinoin, and another post about tretinoin skincare.

For me, I have heard great things about rosehip oil added into nighttime creams to boost moisturization(I made this word up). I use it sometimes but sometimes I think it is TOO heavy but YMMV.

I do think AHA is better for surface exfoliation, and is usually the best product for CC's. Especially good for a tretinoin face to consider yourself dry-skinned anyway.

For PIH, introducing more products with niacinamide would be great for skin, and hydrating! I use the Scinic AIO Honey Ampoule and Cerave PM, both are economical products that contain niacinamide at the same time!

Ooo and as for Hada Labo I use their Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion and like it a lot! I use it a hydrating toner after doing all my actives. I (like to) think it plumps my skin up and makes product absorption easier in the rest of my rotuine

u/GlassRockets · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Sure thing! I developed my routine over months and month of experimenting, and I have a lot of good products (if I do say so myself) but none of them have given me like, instant results such as these so I'll continue to use them, but I was never "wow'd" until trying Aquaphor.

My PM routine is:

Cleanser:
Wash with a DIY water soluble oil cleanser (with or without konjac sponge)
or CeraVe hydrating cleanser or DIY sugar scrub (ducking love this)

Actives:

  1. La Roche Posay Effaclar Clarifying Solution Facial Toner <---- This is my all in one AHA/BHA product.

    wait a bit.
If I feel like my skin needs a couple drops of an oil here (Argan/Sunflower/Safflower are my favorites) I apply a little and wait till it soaks in. I find my other products do not go on smoothly if I skip this when my skin obviously needs it.

  2. Then I apply The Acid Queen's Liquid Gold Essence to get my niacinamide and ceramide fix.

  3. Then after that soaks in a bit I gently PAT in the very much raved about SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule

  4. Rub in Tretinoin

  5. Aquaphor

As you can see the Aquaphor is my last step, you'll know when there is enough because you'll have made a sort of jelly mask with it. You shouldn't be able to feel any skin that doesn't at least have a film of aquaphor on it. It won't really rub into your skin but it will soak into it a bit. You don't really need a THICK layer, but if you want to then more power to you. As long as your skin is completely covered you're doing it right.

When you go to sleep, try and sleep on your back.

I LOVE AZELAIC ACID. So I pretty well thought I would live with a red face forever along with a severely damaged moisture barrier. The biggest thing that helped me was azelaic acid. I use Melazepam from Amazon. Cheap and works! It's thick at first but smoothes into my skin leaving it kinda matte. At first it itched like crazy and I wasn't using it consistently enough. Then after more research, I decided to use it up and give it a chance. Along with anything high in ceramide, my skin got used to the 20% AzA. Maybe around the 10th day of twice daily use, my skin finally started to look normal. I also switch my oil cleanser to an olive oil based one and saw even more improvement in my redness. I've just added in Vit C to my under eye area and continuing to use Melazepam around the rest of my face and neck and my ENTIRE COMPLEXION is EVEN NOW! Would never have believed that was possible. Melazepam has also minimized my SFs on my nose, has finally stopped this ingrown hair on my neck from forming (I've had it for years!!!), and has cleared all the CCs on my forehead. I repeat: I loooooove azelaic acid, specifically Melazepam!

Current routine:

AM

Garnier Micellar Water - pink cap or Cerave Foaming cleanser

Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner

BELITAE Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid to my under eye area and upper cheeks

Melazepam to the rest of my face and neck, especially my nose. Sometimes I wait after the Vit C but not usually since I don't use them in the same spots.

I do wait 15-20 minutes after my actives step.

SCINIC First Treatment Essence 3 skin method. My face loves this more than the Missha FTE.

SCINIC Snail All In One Ampoule or SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule depending on the day.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

A'PIEU PURE BLOCK Natural Sun Cream SPF45/PA+++ I don't see much sunlight at all but when I do, this one keeps me from turning beet red imediately upon application.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Derma Green-Cure Solution Recover Cream This is the best thing I've found for redness and skin barrier repair! My skin loves ceramides so much and this soothes like nothing I've found yet.

Medela Tender Care Lanolin Tube on my lips. Yes it's nip cream. I couldn't use it all up while nursing and it causes my skin to redden so it's perfect for a little lip color.

PM

ROHTO Hada Labo Gokujun Cleansing Oil My skin reacted to Holika Holika Soda Pore B.b Deep Cleansing Oil so this is my second one to try and I'm really enjoying it.

Cerave Foaming cleanser with a konjac sponge but waiting on
Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam in the mail.

Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner

BELITAE Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid to my under eye area and upper cheeks

Melazepam to the rest of my face and neck, especially my nose like the AM.

SCINIC First Treatment Essence 3 skin method.

All depending on how I'm feeling that evening:

LJH TeaTree 90 Essence

SCINIC Snail All In One Ampoule

SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

MIZON Snail Repair Eye Cream

Petitfee Black Pearl and Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch Not sure if I like these or not honestly...

Some or all of these layers followed by CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion and

Guerisson 9 Complex Horse Oil Cream

Pretty sure my shower filter, Mermosis, has also helped my skin and hair.

I also use sometimes REVITABOOST PEEL Anti-Aging Peel Pads or Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid but I skip my AzA on those days and just go back to my regular routine the following day. These are rare for me though because they make me ridiculously red again.

Things I'm waiting on in the mail:

ROSETTE Aqua Ceramide Gel

Rumase BIFIDA Snail Toner

Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam

It's Skin Power 10 Formula - PO Effector

Hoping the all work well for me too!

u/Ketchupbunny · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

i like the secret key fte, which i buy from amazon. honestly i do not know if it does anything special! i have redness just after i wash off my tret in the morning; not sure if the fte calms it, or something else in my routine, or if it is merely time. i put the fte before my toner. the frosted bottle is pretty though; in my opinion some aspects of skincare don't need an assured purpose beyond getting pleasure from the ritual. i like opening this bottle and splashing my face with the liquid that may or may not be doing anything! that is enough for me with this product.

personally, i prefer honey products when my skin is red (which generally happens if i foolishly over exfoliate or don't take proper precautions against getting windburn). the scinic honey is a staple for me, i think it deserves the hype it gets here, as well as a rotating cast of honey masks. i particularly like esfolio's honey mask because it smells wonderful.

You're such a good sibling! I use Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule and it's great for moisturizing and tackling pimples because of the Niacinamide in it. It is slightly sticky, but after about 20 minutes, it should absorb into her skin. I also use Benton's Snail Bee Steam Cream as a layer on top of the Ampoule. Link

u/KeAiKow · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

It sounds like your skin is actually even more dehydrated and might be overproducing oil to compensate for being so dry. Maybe try an oil cleanser, and focus on some hydrating products?

My skin used to be "oily" as well, but was actually dehydrated. I finally got it under check after adding a hydrating toner, ampoule, and essence. The item that's probably helped me the most is Scinic AIO Honey Ampoule

u/sparkl_bunni · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

To warn you, and others, there are some western items I use.

What I use is Mario Badescu Cleansing Milk with Carnation & Rice Oil to remove my makeup. I use the Yes To Grapefruit Rejuvenating Facial Wipes to remove that (you can use a wet cloth). Then I use a foaming cleanser (which I'm in need of finding a better one).

Once done with that I use 40 carrots vitamin serum (it's a Vitamin C serum). Sometimes when I'm lazy I use [Alpha Hydrox Retinol] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BW4ZB74/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_mul0xb88ED1WF) instead.

I then get lost on Reddit or watching Netflix. So at least a half hour goes by before I remember to do the rest of my routine.

I pump Kikumasamune Sake high moisture lotion into my hands and smooth it around my face. Then I apply Tony Moly Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel (it has alcohol in it but my skin doesn't mind it). Then I use Farm Stay AIO Honey Ampoule (a drop or two). I'd advise you to get a different AIO (Scinic or the likes). As I find it a useless step at the moment.

Next I use Mizon Collagen Power Lifting cream all over my face followed by the Mizon Collagen Power Firming eye cream. Then I get lost in Reddit or Netflix again.

I then use The Face Shop Arsainte Eco-Therapy Moisturizer and follow up with Holika Holika Skin and Good Cera Ultra Emulsion.

My final "sealing it all in" step is about a large pea size of Imselene Bird's Nest Aqua Sleeping Mask Pack (it's cheaper on eBay).

For masking I use these from Amazon (my husband and I have easily gone through 50 of them) and the Petitfee black pearl and gold hydrogel patches.

For sunscreen during the day I use Rohto Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel Suncreen (140g).

Note: I don't get everything from Amazon. I also check eBay to see where the prices are the cheapest. Those were just links to show the exact product I use. Everything I do use I try to keep around $15USD or less (that's including shipping).

u/Mestone · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Ok, I just added these 3 new products and I think I'm using them in the right spot & order, but I thought I'd ask for second opinions. The newbies are: Hada Labo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, Scinic Honey AIO ampoule, Skin Daily Niancinamide 5% serum.

Cleanse
Actives (BHA/AHA depending on day)

  • Hada Labo HA
  • Scinic Honey
  • Niacinamide 5%
Cerave in tub (only sometimes, my skin seems pretty moisturized after the above 3)

Should I leave it as it is, or switch the Niacinamide and Honey ampoule?
u/NotYourNat · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Right now the area seems like it’s still a bit irritated and starting to scab/heal, I’d focus on keeping it well moisturized right now. I normally use this when I get random dry patches, but it can work for this purpose as well. Then to help fade the discoloration this eye cream

Hope this helps :)

Here are the products pictured:

Etude House bubble tea sleeping pack

3 airless/vacuum pump bottles - going to use for travelling and decanting, I've already put the honey ampoule in one.

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - Heard great things about this!

SCINIC Honey All in One Ampoule - Another product that I've heard great things about. It is pretty runny, so it would be better off in a pump bottle.

The Crème Shop - Clear up, Skin! Unicorn Face Mask - Haven't seen this brand mentioned much, any experiences? I just want to be a sweet-smelling unicorn apparently!
