To check if your local store has any available go here : http://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker

Put in your Zip Code and 056-02-0117 for the DPCI Number and cross your fingers!

If you got any nearby then you better haul your ass over there and grab em before someone else does.

It should be the same model as this one : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE8K

Worth noting that Brickseek is not 100% accurate so it might be worth calling your store to make sure.

I'm not the guy you're responding to, but at $99, here's Amazon's cheapest 3 Tb external:

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB3000100/dp/B00TKFEEJ4/

Although if I were you I'd pony up the extra $18 and go for this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Book-Desktop-External-Drive-WDBFJK0040HBK-NESN/dp/B00E3RH61W/

Not only do I have more confidence in WD over Seagate, you also get an extra 1 Tb for that $18. Then again, if you don't care about brand, you can get 4 Tb for only $10 more:

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB4000100/dp/B00TKFEE8K

Or you could go nuts and get 5 Tb for $129:

This is the exact external I use with my PS4, 4TB, and I've had it since April 2018 with no issues.

I was wrong, it was $109... It's cheaper now by a bit at $105. Here's the one I got https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE8K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cELRzbRH5VJCN

this drive is the newer model of my drive i use (i use the 2014 version) Not much of the drive itself has changed just the outer shell.

It should be a $5 LIFETIME fee, no matter how you slice it. Having over 10,000% markup is ridiculous.

Here's some math at just Google Drive vs Bank: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/275fje/nintendo_does_online_right/chxscew?context=2

It is required to collect Pokemon, as not all Pokemon are available in Pokemon Sun and Moon. You needed to transfer from Gen VI. And never mind if you wanted to transfer from Gen V - that's locked behind the Bank paywall as well. Do you not believe that one-way transfer should be allowed for free?

I'll follow up with an edit once I find my math that gave me the 10,000% markup ballpark by going in depth on estimates for salaries and server costs.

Edit: Oooh, it's only 3400% (34x) markup. My apologies. But keep in mind that is with very liberal over-estimating for costs. And keep in mind that that means one year of subscriptions should let you run the servers for 34 years.

Edit 2: I fucked up my math somehow. 10 accounts on 7 MB means 10,000 accounts on 7 GB... not 7000 accounts on 7 GB. Then you push that to 10 million accounts on 7 TB... But regardless, the real math comes at the assumption for 7 million subscribers (which isn't unlikely; 15 million copies of Sun or Moon have been shipped.)

>The PokeBank (not sure if this is more Game Freak or more Nintendo) is a huge rip off. It is 100,000% more expensive than any cloud storage software and there is absolutely no reason except millions of dollars in pure profit to make it an annual fee instead of a one-time purchase. The storage space any individual account will ever take up is <700 kilobytes. For the record, you could put 10 accounts on 7 MB, 7000 accounts on 7 GB, and 7 million accounts on 7 TB. And looking on Amazon: 4 TB Hard Drive for $110 http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB4000100/dp/B00TKFEE8K/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1437436355&sr=1-3&keywords=terabyte+harddrive&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A7817230011

>So, they can literally pay <$250 worth of storage space for 7 million subscriptions ($5/year -- $35 million/year). OK, let's have some redundancy in place though! Got to have backups! Let's have 3 backups, so we're looking at spending $1000 out of $35 million.

>But, oh you say, electricity and internet costs for running these 24/7? This I don't have nice pricing on, but I cannot imagine it goes to more than $1 million/year. Reddit uses the Reddit Gold feature to pay for server costs. $4 of gold supposedly pays for 231.26 minutes of server time -- That's ~4 hours. Do we need more than 5 servers for Bank? Eh, sure, we'll say 50 servers because lumping the numbers in Nintendo/Game Freak's favor is always good to making this argument.

>So, it costs about $25/day (24 hours/~4 hours = 6; 6 * $4 = $24) per server. It'll be $1250/day with 50 servers. 365 days to a year: $456,250 per year in server costs.

>Now, of course, you pay the one guy who does daily diagnostics on these servers and maintenances a great salary because this is a huge money making operation. Let's give him another $500,000/year.

>So, our annual expenses are almost $1,000,000/year. Let's pay the difference to the person who coded Bank and Transporter in a week's time (I'd say this is an accurate estimate for how rudimentary and shoddy both softwares are, including the back-end). And at just 7 million customers, they make $35,000,000/year.

>Do they really need to be making 3400% profit on this?

It's actually 4, my bad. There's also an 8TB for $179

Though I definitely remember the 5 being $99 sometime last year because that's when I bought one.

u/LeeorV · 2 pointsr/PS4Pro

Nope :( but if you don't plan to move it around too much, I'd probably go with a 4TB 3.5' sized external drive with its own power and USB 3.0 support, something along the lines of this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB4000100/dp/B00TKFEE8K/ref=sr_1_15?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486383533&sr=1-15&keywords=4TB%2BExternal%2Bdrive%2BUSB%2B3&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A5446816011&th=1

there's even a 5TB option for a bit more.

You want to look for "backup" or "desktop" in the name. They need an external source of power but are way cheaper than the plug and plays.

I'm pretty sure it's an SSD though. The Amazon page I bought it on doesn't make any specific mention of it being SSD or HDD, but I'm pretty sure it's SSD. Product link, if it helps any.

I use this 4 TB USb 3.0 external hard drive which I got at a pretty heavy discount close to a year ago now (list price is $195 Cnd and I got it for like $125). The speed is good and I've never had a problem with it. The size is also good enough that I've only had to start recently deleting my old raw footage.

I use this. It'll be a while before I run out.

You can copy the games on your internal drive over to external or just leave them on your internal drive. you can setup up xbox to download all future games to the external drive.

Also, make sure that you save a few GBs of free space on your internal drive for because backwards compatible games need to install some files (few MBs) on the internal drive.

u/Squirly8675309 · 1 pointr/PleX

Absolutely. I do it all the time. Cheaper than internal.

Edit:
I’ve used that exact one before. $10 cheaper on amazon link

Tl;dr: do whatever, actually.

I think both can be ok, but there's no guarantee. In the reviews (go down the page, click "See all [amount] customer reviews and [amount] customer ratings, then on the reviews pages, filter by "all formats" -> "show only reviews for capacity 2TB"), both drives have been said to work with PS4, for example. So it will probably work anyway. But while the read speeds are probably enough, for example one review stated "It's fairly slow taking near 4 hours to backup 400gb", i.e. about 30 MB/s. It's probably the same for both drives. And 2TB really might not be enough. I would perhaps go with this https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB4000100/dp/B00TKFEE8K/ (2TB more space, and greater speed with $20 added) I have already two of those, they look beautiful, I think... they're actually black, and like diamonds. However, it's rather big and supposed to be in an upwards position (but it doesn't matter so much). And also, perhaps 2TB is just enough! So, that's just me, thinking 2TB is terribly little for hoarding. Anyway, I had hard time finding any good information on Wii U games, it seemed like the average size could be something like 300MB in some place, but 5Gb in some place... but I suppose you know what you need? Anyway, those drives are quite cute, and perhaps they will be even cheaper after a few years (thus, the 2TB portable ext. HDD might be the most cost-efficient solution actually, besides being cuter). So maybe you should actually go with one of those you linked. They seem to be quite similar. Note that no drive is reliable, per se. But if the games are actually like 300MB each, even a 500GB SSD for the same price $60 (although the portable ones are pricier, and that would anyway be extra cheap deal) would enough probably, perhaps 1700 games would be enough...?

Easiest cheapest way? Think how much space you're going to need (lets just say 4TB to give you room to grow). There's several options:

  • Buy a Seagate 4TB External Hard Drive USB 3.0. These will allow you to move between systems and move everything to the 4TB harddrive.
  • If you want faster than USB 3.0 speeds, but 4TB spinning drives and pick up a SATA docking station.

With both of these options, I will tell you to buy at least two of whatever you do. If its the USB 3.0 harddrives, but two 4TB drives and make two copies. You don't want your backup to fail. Always have a redundancy.

There are more automated options that will pull from your systems at X interval and make copies on seperate drives, but that is more expensive. I just gave you the quick easy way.

Once you move the data over, you take the hard drives and store them in top of your closes or a firebox if you have one for all your essential documents.

Given that the cheapest 4TB internal drive I could find is the same price as the cheapest external I could find, I wouldn't bother.

u/tatanka01 · 1 pointr/tifu

I don't know about $40, but Amazon has them for $90.

I have the 5TB. It's amazing. Easy to use. 10/10

u/mrichard629 · 1 pointr/xboxone

I use the 2tb version of this one

But I'll be upgrading to either this one or the 5tb to for $20 more

u/-A_V- · 1 pointr/xboxone

Worth every penny. I don't think I have any games or apps on the actual console hard-drive.

Do you have any old PC hardware you'll be re-using for this build?

A 4TB Seagate drive is $118 on Amazon. You'll need 3 of these to get 12TB, and that's with no redundancy or backup. That's $354 which leaves you with $146 for your build. You could save $10 each if you bought the 4TB external drives for $109 each and remove the drive from the enclosure.

You might be able to find a decent processor for $146, but you'd still need a motherboard, RAM, power supply, and case.

Maybe someone else can find cheaper drives for you.
