Same price as the 2TB by Seagate. Might as well get the extra terabyte!

Edit: disregard what I said earlier, the price has increased to $74.99. It's still less than the $99.99 original price but it's a bit disappointing nonetheless.

There is this, which is only $70 for 2 TB of space.

This is the one he linked but for the US I think, but the one that you linked would work as well. And you have to replace the internal drive which is EXTREMELY easy to do. Here's a video that can guide you through it if you decided to do it.

u/digita1catt · 10 pointsr/halo

I have a 2tb external. 77 games and 36 apps installed and still 970GB remaining. I'd honestly say any bigger would be a waste of money. I have so many games installed now that I simply can't even attempt to play them all. I'm in progress of AC syndicate, Fallout 4, GTA 5, Dishonoured and about 10 other games. And even that's /only the surface/. When I eventually fill the thing up, I'll have so many games installed that I could probably just keep games on rotation. Uninstalling and reinstalling as and when I want to play them.

EDIT: Here's the drive I bought. Its a Seagate drive identically functional to the one that Seagate make for the xbox one, without all the xbox branding (so its cheaper for some reason?).

u/sonny30 · 10 pointsr/PS4

I bought a 2TB external HDD and cracked the case open. I removed my old 500Gb and put it into the case so I ended up with a 2Tb PS4 and a 500Gb backup drive for anything else.

I bought this for my PS4 last week, works great. You can either remove the case and use it as an internal or just plug it in as additional storage, I used it as internal it's a little thinner than the standard PS4 hard drive but you screw it in so no issues.

Can someone explain the difference between this hard drive and the typical Seagate hard drive? Is one of them better?

u/AdevilSboyU · 4 pointsr/SpidermanPS4

I bought this one from Amazon. I’ve had it for a little over a year and have had zero problems. Prime day is coming so you may even get lucky and find it (or something similar) on sale.

u/theredwakeskater · 3 pointsr/xboxone

Unfortunately with the WD drives, they are soldered to the board so you're unable to open these up and use the drive on the PS4. The perfect one for the PS4 are the Seagate externals, those can be ripped from the enclosure and used on the PS4.

This one will do

u/Andrew129260 · 3 pointsr/PS4
u/harrisonisdead · 3 pointsr/PSVR

An external seagate drive is always a safe bet. Seagate makes internal HDDs as well if you are willing to put a little more work into replacing the drive completely. It would save you a USB port, though. The internal and external ones are very similar in price, so it comes down to preference.

u/bookmonkey786 · 3 pointsr/peacecorps

DONT buy a use hard drive. Hard drives have a definite life cycle the older and more used they are the more likely they will fail, especially if they have been moved and dropped which is probably allot in PC. I used to build computer from used parts, and Hard drive are one of the parts you should NOT buy unless you absolutely have no money for any other option and even then its a bad idea.

There will be several people with drives full of movies and media, just bring a blank drive and ask around when you meet or on the local PC facebook, somebody can help you.

Solid state drives are much expensive and more durable, especially to problem like drops while working. If you have money to burn let me know I'll recommend a few.

Otherwise here is a good 2tb hard drive for a good price. Each will fit about 500 movies. 4tb drives are available and are a better deal per gigabyte but I recommend 2 smaller drives for redundancy if you need that much room.

You will need to remove the hard drive and put it in an enclosure or use a USB sata adapte. Here is a link for removing the drive. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Early+2011+Hard+Drive+Replacement/5119

You could also buy this external drive for $80. It is fairly easy to open and remove the drive. Then when you have recovered your files you can reinstall the new disk and continue using it as a backup drive so you don't have this issue in the future. You may have to formate the new drive for mac. Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEA2000400) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uJKPyb5C9BAPK

u/DrinkinMcGee · 3 pointsr/dji

No, it isn't, and here's why:

This is $6, weighs less than a gram, has no moving parts to break and is smaller than a stick of gum. Much like the HDD shown, it too requires a laptop or desktop to be useful. This is handy.

This is $179, which is more than the DJI unit, but it has a built in card reader AND a battery so you can use it in the field AND wifi so you don't even need to dig out a cable when you get home. That is handy.

If you want a 2tb external drive, here ya go - It's $70 (almost half off the DJI price), save yourself some time and just write DJI on with a sharpie.

Well that was hard, you do need to do a bit of work to crack the case open, but doing so will allow you to reuse the case with the stock 500gig HDD that used to be in your PS4 as an external drive.

Get this one

Use a knife, wedge it in the crack between the top and the bottom case to pry it apart, take the drive out and install it into the PS4. Put the PS4 stock drive back into the case and use it as your external back up.

This is better because, for the same capacity, same brand, and same RPM, you get a cheaper drive with an external HDD to boot.

u/kaizendojo · 2 pointsr/ShieldAndroidTV

Yeah, that would be awesome. I have a Seagate Expansion (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TKFEE5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) connected to mine but I'd want the USB hub compartment too - I would definitely buy the hub for that.

Ah, so you do have a laptop. Yeah... you'd have to copy all the data over from your old drive to your new drive, if you were to get a larger internal drive. Definitely possible, but not always easy.

You may want to ask a local store how much they'll charge to move the data over to your new disk. If they do it for free, it's a great value, though I doubt they'll do it for free due to the small price difference I found online.

A 2TB external disk from seagate: here. - $64

A 1TB internal disk (half the space!): here - $66.

2 TB WD black drive: here - $65

... So apparently an external disk is cheaper. Go for it!

Edit: Also, most laptops don't have the storage space for an additional drive. That's why I keep mentioning "desktop" - desktops have a ton of storage space.

You may want to google your laptop, and the query "m.2 SSD?" because some laptops have a m.2 slot on the motherboard. Spending the $100 on a internal M.2 and an additional $60 on an internal HDD would be great, though you'd have to be comfortable with moving the OS to the new M.2.

Also, I added a WD black external HDD above, same price as the seagate.

u/Viet-Bong-Army · 2 pointsr/PS4

The save data will remain on your PS4. The HDD will only hold game install data.

I think max size supported is actually 8gb, but you're talking fairly big bucks for that. Not sure where you are in the world but drives like this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-PlayStation-STEA1000400/dp/B00TKFEEAS/

are fairly economic in terms of cost, and the 2tb version is only around 60

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-PlayStation-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S/

Realistically, a 2tb in conjuction with the 1tb drive you already have will give you so much storage that I doubt you'd need much more, but obviously that's subjective.

I buy the Seagate 2tb portable drives all the time - I like to yank the drives out of them for game consoles and PC's, but the enclosures are nice and handy too.

This one is on sale for $69 currently: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1497633141&sr=8-3&keywords=seagate+2tb+external+hard+drive

Or make sure you're signed up for the Newegg newsletters, they both come across at $65 on occassion.

I currently have 5 of these drives in operation and have had no issues with them.

u/heinous_anus- · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Depends on what you're after. If you just need storage and aren't concerned with loading times, go with a hdd. If you want super fast loading times, go with ssd. I personally got this one and it works great for me. And it's USB 3.0 so it's technically a little faster than the internal hard drive. But some people want shorter loading times, so they shell out the cash for a ssd, but the price for the capacity was just too high for me. Plus it has the added bonus of being plug and play, so it's easy to transport if I wanna bring games to a friend's house.

u/Taenith · 2 pointsr/PS4

Oh wow didn't realize that.

I use a older model of this which has worked great for the past 2 years or so. There's plenty to choose from

It could be, there is no reason that should not have worked. Replacement is easy though. There are instructions on the website but here is a link to ign http://m.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/How_to_Replace_a_PS4_Hard_Drive. If you have the money I would upgrade to a larger drive as well. u/Jasons2334 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Correct. There's actually a few games I play that take up quite a bit of space so I definitely need at least 1TB. The other user said for an xbox I'd just be better off getting this

u/CaedoGenesis · 1 pointr/NewTubers

That's incredible that your folks are willing to support you in this and it's a great chance for your channel to take off! So this leaves you with...5 months to get that momentum? I believe you can do it, and once it hits that 2k mark, it only multiplies so long as you're consistent with it!

It sounds as though you have an audience already in mind, but what I would recommend is putting a least a couple video projects together that would have a long shelf-life.

What I mean is if you are able, do some DIY/guide type videos for relatively common subjects/problems in your niche. If (more like when) they get searched for, you'll see that things with an inherent value and good SEO can last for a LONG time.

$800 is an awesome budget for this too! Wish I had that much to work with when I started. I don't know what kind of content you create, but investing in at least a studio-quality mic, decent editing software, a good sized SSD and an external storage as well. Camera of course would be necessary if it's a vlog style or whatnot, but again, not sure what you're going for here. Doing gaming oriented content, I have no need for a camera (yet).

Here's what I'm running with - having a computer is already implied:

I got a 2TB hard drive for Christmas. It wasn't that hard, just make sure you either do a backup to an external hard drive first or upload all your saves to the cloud (and have a USB stick to reinstall the OS). Well worth it. I did it cheaply by using a 2TB external hard drive and prying off the plastic casing. This is what I used https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00TKFEE5S/ref=mp_s_a_1_1/254-0499253-9255536?ie=UTF8&qid=1483029224&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=seagate+2tb+ps4&dpPl=1&dpID=41T6y4463DL&ref=plSrch

u/CopperStripe · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Literally in the exact same situation. I decided to delete all installs off my original PS4 to decrease transfer time as much as possible. Then I bought this 2TB external hdd from amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TKFEE5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I opened it up to get the hdd out and today I'm going to put the new 2TB in the Pro and do the transfer then I'll have a spare 1TB external hdd which should come in handy. Imo better than using an external hdd with the console as it can be slower.

Why such a drastic difference in price in India when compared to USA. The same model is priced differently here in USA and here in India. Prices are almost 33% higher. I already have 2 Seagate hard drives and would buy more if not for such a difference in price.

u/SnappyCrunch · 1 pointr/24hoursupport

There are several ways to accomplish this. Other people in this thread have mentioned using a Raspberry Pi, or a wireless hard drive. These are both okay solutions, especially the wireless hard drive. However, I'd be worried about either of them being able to serve files to seven people at once. I just don't think that a wireless chip in a hard drive enclosure will have the power or speed necessary to make that happen. One or two people, sure, but not seven. Similar problems with the Raspberry Pi. The Pi would also be a significant amount of setup, would be pretty fragile given the number of interconnecting pieces needed to make it work for your needs, and you'd still have problems with bandwidth on just about any USB wireless card. There might be a solution with multiple USB wireless cards, but that just makes the whole thing that much more fragile.

I think what you need here for pure bandwidth purposes is an honest to god wireless router. Not a travel router, but the full thing. Modern wireless routers have USB ports on them, and you can plug USB storage devices into the router and have the router share the files on that storage device. So I think the right solution for you is a desktop wireless router and a USB hard drive.

The router is somewhat harder of the two items to find because of your physical size requirements. In addition, I think you don't want any protruding antennas which could break off. For that, I can recommend the Netgear R6300. I have the R6300v2, and I can personally attest that it's a fast, reliable router, and it measures 7.75" to a side.

Once you have a router, you need a hard drive. Get one in a small form factor that runs straight off a USB port and has a reasonable size. A 4TB drive should be more than enough, and you might get away with a 2TB drive drive depending on how much you want to store on it. I recently ripped my DVD collection and I was happy with the quality at about 1GB per movie. Since you'll probably be downloading movies from the internet, sizes and quality will vary. You may want to transcode the larger movies down to a more manageable size. You can batch transcode movies with Handbrake or other programs. Choose more aggressive compression and downsize 1080p movies to 720p, for example, to save space. Keep in mind that conversion takes a long time, so start early. Smaller files also stream more easily, so more people will be able to stream at once if you manage the file sizes well.

Good luck!

I'm having a bit of trouble what to choose now.

I'm thinking about this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SATA-Compatible-Internal-Drive-x/dp/B00I8O6OQ4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1483194498&sr=8-4&keywords=2tb+2.5

But numerous reviews state that it fails, as well as a few saying it's reconditioned (Which I DO NOT want) though amazon fails to say.

Originally I was thinking about https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/External-Devices-Data-Storage/Seagate-Expansion-2TB-Portable-inch-Hard-Drive/B00TKFEE5S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483194498&sr=8-3&keywords=2tb+2.5 but amazon doesn't deliver to my area (strange as I've never seen this in the thousands of products I've bought)

I don't want to spend too much as it's only my PS4 but around £80 give or take 10 or so.

Actually seems hard to find any without a lot of negative reviews, though https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Spinpoint-Internal-Drive-ST2000LM003/dp/B00MPWYLHO/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t doesn't have many but it doesn't have many reviews full stop.

u/madhippyflow · 1 pointr/xboxone

I agree with what most others have said. But I would like to add a side note. Currently amazon has the 500gb GOW Bundle for about $310. So realistically you could save $90, put that in to a 2TB External HDD for $80 and you'll still end up saving $10 and have 3x the storage space. If you don't feel like waiting for Amazon Best Buy and Target will price match.

Hey,

How about the ASUS Zenbook UX330UA? It has:

  • i5-8250U 4-core processor

  • 8 GB of RAM

  • 256 GB SSD storage

  • 1080p 13.3" display

  • Weight of 2.6lbs and battery life up to 12 hours

The laptop runs Windows 10 Home. It has a great display, 72% NTSC or 100% sRGB, which will be great for Photoshop. It only has a 256 GB SSD, so you can pick up a 2 TB external HDD which keeps you close to your budget.
u/FoN925 · 1 pointr/PS4

This is the exact HDD I used when upgrading to a 2TB drive. I've been using it for two years now and have never had a single problem out of it, even after multiple power failures and outages caused the PS4 to lose power without being able to shut down properly.

This one will also work perfectly, and costs about £15 less.

The good thing about getting a drive like these is that you can re-use the HDD enclosure. Once you've removed the 500GB drive from your PS4, just pop it in the enclosure, plug it up to your PC, format it and you have an extra 500GB external drive for use as you see fit.

I highly recommend following this guide for replacing your drive. I've used it every time I've replaced an internal PS4 drive, so four times now, and it's been excellent because of the detailed descriptions and pictures, so you can be absolutely certain you are doing everything correctly.

Honestly you can buy a 2 or 3TB external for not that much. I bought mine (2TB) around Christmastime 2015 and I don't even think I've filled it to 40% yet.

It's not solid state, but it hasn't hampered me at all.

I’m not affiliated in any way on this... but you’re going to need a bigger HD, here’s a quick and easy option - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xAtYBbJ4PBB1H

bought this last year. its been working fine so far.

Oh not familiar with buying stuff in Brazil (R$). I'm in the US and got mine on Amazon.com at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LpHZBb2N42NCM

Its $65 USD.

Get a seagate expansion plus and pop the drive out. They're Samsung spinpoints and usually cheaper than buying the drive alone. Then when you've done that or the drive from the ps4 in and enclosure and you have an external too.

I would personally get https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-UHS-I-Memory-SDSDUNC-064G-GN6IN/dp/B0143IIP4W for a SD card, it's the one I have in both my 2DS and Wii U, it's 64GB and it's only like $7 more from what you mentioned.

HDDs can be expensive, and with a 64GB card you can use an RedNAND to store your games on your SD card, but that limits you to 32gb or 8gb depending on your Wii U storage size.

I have this HDD: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S for my Wii U, it's $60 and you could probably get it cheaper. There's a 1TB version which is $51.50 there, too. On the Wii U, you won't be storing up to a TB, but some games are like 20GB while others are only 5GB. I wasn't able to find any small capacity HDDs on Amazon.

its external.

This is the drive

I've been using the older model of THIS Seagate drive, which means the newer model should be excellent as well. Truly plug and play. The only "work" would be waiting to (optionally) transfer games of your choosing to the new external drive. You can still use your internal drive. For example I have the 500 GB Xbox + 2 TB Seagate Expansion Portable = 2.5 TB of space. I have 50 games installed right now and am only utilizing 51.3% of my total storage space. Plug it and forget it.

Here you go; there's also a 1tb and 4tb version

I was unable to locate system requirements for their 4D Embroidery Software on that page. Might you have a link around?
That aside, 250 max for a traditional laptop without refurbished is something of a challenge, depending on how demanding that software is. I obviously don't know your exact situation, but I would highly recommend a little flexibility in either your budget or your stance on refurbished/used items. I know I for one have never had an issue with Amazon Certified Refurbished products.

The way the market is trending, laptops for under 250 are primarily designed now to be ultraportable speedy little netbooks with low capacity Solid State Drives and no optical bay.

So with that all said, this is pretty much the best I can do to meet your requirements with your max budget.

This computer runs windows and has at least Intel HD Graphics.

It has no optical drive but you can get an external USB one.

And store all your files on a spacious external hard drive, since the 16GB SSD wont hold much more than the operating system. This link directs you to the 2TB drive, simply select 1TB instead right there on the amazon page to be back within your budget.

This would seem to meet your needs for under $250, though again, I'd feel better seeing the system requirements for what you want to run.

Alright well the Xbone is slow as shit so the difference in drive speeds doesn't really matter. It does have USB3 ports (the 360 is USB2), so you'll want a USB3 drive for datfullduplex, but past that it doesn't matter a whole lot.

Amazon actually has a deal right now for a 2TB USB3 Seagate drive for $10 cheaper than the one you were looking at.

u/JTricks · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Need an external drive for video editing ASAP (around 2TB is fine), doesn't have to be an SSD.

Any one know a good deal? What do you guys think about this one?

Thanks so much!

The 2 TB model in this link is popular for what you're asking. It takes a little fiddling, but is supposedly not too complicated. I've been meaning to do it myself when I can afford it. Check out the amazon comments or a simple google search should find the answer.

u/eldritchdawn · 1 pointr/xboxone

Can't we choose size and performance together? But right now, 1TB or 2TB is good for me. I don't have much games with too large sizes. Also it's important good prices. I can't afford too much. I wrote my below comments, we have ridiculously high tax policy. So, I can't buy anything I want. I just want to buy products that can I afford and good.

Isn't this good? https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S I can find this with low price maybe.

[I used the guide] (http://imgur.com/a/9giKA) , and it was about $80 on [Amazon.](Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEA2000400) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0BxHyb6B4N28K)

I dont have very much money so its the best I can afford at the moment ! lol
If the firmware is from this website (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps4/) I have it installed onto a USB and the USB plugged in, but the playstation controller still just blinks white when I press it and wont let me go any further.

Perhaps I have bought the wrong HDD? This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TKFEE5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
