First - as someone who has many friends who are doctors, you want your everyday/hospital watch to have a metal band so that you can easily sanitize it. If you're doing primary care you may want a watch with a chronograph and tachymeter so you can easily time things like heartbeats.

Second - the problem with black bands is that the color comes from a PVD coating process, and any scratches will show as silver. A conventional SS bracelet doesn't show scratches unless you look very closely, because the color of the scratches matches the color of the bracelet.

That having been said, many companies make darker bands.

Hey, had a question with my first watch.

Watch: Sekio SGG709

My Question:

Been googling for a good while and couldn't find what this part is called:

I was removing links and that tube fell out at some point. So I am now left with that tube and a single springbar to connect the clasp back to the watchband:

I am guessing the "tube" may have to do with the following clasp:

I know where and how to place the springbar on this clasp, which will attach the clasp to the band on one side. I am guessing that the tube has something to do with attaching the clasp to the second side? That's my guess, am not sure though. Maybe I lost a second springbar along the way?

Thanks for any help. I'm so close to getting this watch fitted, but have to figure out this last piece.

Not all titanium alloys are nickel free. Casio states "the titanium pieces (...) are hypoallergenic, nickel free and corrosion resistant". Some Casios from the edifice and oceanus lines are also said to be nickel free but I was not able to confirm which models specifically.

CC Swiss military makes some [models] (http://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Military-1728-Nickel-Free-Chronograph/dp/B0091GVIK0) from nickel free steel.

Victorinox has advertised some of their watches as nickel free and I would assume they adhere to the standard, but was unable to confirm.

Keep in mind that even if the watch itself does comply, the buckle and other metal parts that may come in contact with the skin may not.

Swatch has released some automatics entirely encased in plastic, the Sistem 51 is one of them, and their quartz models often use a case made from a single piece of plastic with a small "door" to access the battery. In some models it has also been made of plastic.

Aluminium alloys of the kind used in watches do not require nickel. Again, Swatch makes some models in this price range but the composition of the battery cover is unknown.

You can get a simple titanium watch from Seiko too, like this or this

Sorry if this is not helpful enough.
