Description: A great, affordable chronograph. Can be worn with shorts and t-shirt or a suit and just about everything in between. It's accurate enough for every day use and falls right about in the middle, size wise - not oversized but not too small.

One complaint is that the hands and face are very similarly coloured, which can make it hard to read. This has only been a problem for me in dim light.

I found this citizen, what do you think?

The comments say that the hands are white and not "luminous green" like the picture

edit: I also like the way the numbers seem to complement the band in color

Seiko alternatives one two

Try this Seiko. Those little dials are called a chronograph, by the way, and they measure elapsed time.

Fossil uses various quartz movements mostly from Japan or China, but at this price range you shouldn't worry too much about the pedigree of the movement. Its a fashion watch and will function well enough as such.

There are quartz chronographs from more reputable manufacturers in that price range like this one from Seiko or Citizen

I've found the SNDC31 to be an excellent watch for the price, and fit's your "white chrono under $100" bill, although only when on sale. It's at $119 on Amazon Prime right now but often falls below $100.

I think the Orient Bambino would be a good pick (it's also available in a silver finish but black band so you'd have to change that yourself), more interesting than a sea of similar Bulova, Citizen, and Seiko quartz dress watches.

This Seiko Chronograph might be nice also but busier. And coming in well below budget is the Timex Forty Weekender.

The Nautica brand is fine. They are known for their clothing, but their watches are made by the Timex group, whose name might be a little more prolific in the world of horology.

Some other alternatives I think may pique your interest and give bit of variety based off the Nautica would be:

You could obviously go for the first watch you mentioned.

I own the SNDC31 with the same 7T92 movement, and it has been very reliable for the last 2 years. The build quality seems very good for what you are paying. If you like it and can afford it, pull the trigger.

I suggest the Seiko SNDC31. Its cheaper even!

Any recommendations for a watch similar to the Armogan Spirit of St. Louis, but in a size of 38mm or less? I'm a fan of the font of the numbers and the day/date window. Illumination would be a plus, and chronograph isn't really necessary.
Closest I got through research was the Seiko SNDC31, but it isn't clear if the size is 38mm or 40mm. Also considering the SNK803, but the font isn't the best. Thanks in advance!

I would say that both Bulova, Seiko, and Citizen are great introductory brands for people who are starting to collect. Also do you care about automatics vs quartz?

If you compare this link to the amazon one in the OP though they look different. I can't tell if it's just the straps and different lighting of the face or if the colour of the face is actually different.

Zeppelin is made by PointTec, which also makes Junkers watches. They are fairly well respected for a budget pricepoint. I'm not sure which particular model appeals to you, but you might also like the look of the Orient Symphony, Esteem, or maybe the Monterey. Seiko also has the SNDC31 and SPC131P1 that you might like, both of which are quartz.

I am looking for a watch for my father.

We found a few watches that he likes, but are a bit too expensive. Here they are: C3 Malvern Chronograph MK II, Tissot T0636171603700.

This one already has too much stuff on the dial.

So I'm looking for a watch with a chronograph, pretty clean dial and that's not too big (45mm is too big). And the budget is 200 Euro, (~220 USD).
