Some recommendations by Seiko, who I always recommend for a good cheap watch, and as for the strap, easy to replace with a nice leather band, metal isn't as heavy as you think it is either.

Lmk what you end up with.
I couldn't find the list, but these ones featured on it.
Seiko 5 SNK375K
Seiko 5 SNK793K1
Stuhrling 657.01
Orient Sun & Moon ET0T002S (This one is my next one for sure!)
Pulsar PU7005X1
Orient FER0200DW0 This one is very similar to my one, although I'm not sure if the colours just end up looking childish. Either way it's a beauty too.
After looking, now that I'm home again, it is actually the SNK375k which is seemingly just slighty different than the one you posted.
Wow. That was an incredibly detailed response. It was very helpful in understanding those terms; thanks a bunch. I'm looking for a watch under 100 because it will be my first watch and I'm not sure if I'm going to peruse this hobby further. I've always had an interest in automatic watches and I'm considering a Seiko 5 as a first watch. Is that a good idea? Also, the Mako might be a tad large for my wrist, which is only 6-6.5 inches.
I was thinking about http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK375K-Automatic-Stainless-Steel/dp/B000HG7O5Q/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top or http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNXS79K-Automatic-Stainless-Steel/dp/B000G12Y8O.
