I searched/researched all morning. I settled on the Sennheiser PC 350 SE. Best reviews, brand I trust, good price, and compatible with everything.

Sennheiser PC350s, they're bloody fantastic.

PC350s are good

I personally own the PC360 but it looks like I can't find one reasonably priced anymore. They are great open ear headphones, the PC350s are closed ear but sound great too.

Sennheiser PC 350 has an amazon offer for $225. Sennheiser headsets put Astros/TurtleBeaches to shame in sound quality.

I will chime in with another vote for the Sennheiser PC series - their bigger models (3xx series) are full over ear, and are amazing. Very durable - I've had one last me 5-7 years and still working fine, the pads just wore out. I've had two now because I left one at my parents' house when I was moving out and I bought another one to replace it.

They are a bit more expensive, but think of them as a long-term investment. They have some of the best microphones that I have used for PC headsets, the sound is clear, amazing, and allows you to pin-point people walking around you in FPS, the quality is unbeatable and the cord is nice and long.

I'd go with a PC350 because it's cheaper. All the other audiophile grade headsets are over priced compared to their headphone equivalents, so there's not a ton of options on that front unfortunately, and all the gaming-company headsets are meh for various reasons.

Edit: recently got my hands on a Plantronics RIG, and was somewhat surprised at how not-terrible they sounded. I know they use GameCom Commander's for a certain LoL tournament, so that might be a decent cheaper option.

There are a couple of ways:

  1. The best way - via an Astro MixAmp. Note that headset audio over USB is currently broken so you'll need to run a http://smile.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Ear-Force-Chat-Cable/dp/B00GFT53U2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top from your controller to your MixAmp otherwise other people will sound very quiet.
  2. The convenient way - to the controller via an adapter like http://en-us.sennheiser.com/pcv-05.

If you're considering a PC 360 sit tight. The price should drop back to $166 soon:

Alternatively the PC 350 is $145:

These are absolutely outstanding with crystal clear mic, VERY good clear sound delivery and comfort. They are now discontinued, used to retail for over $200. Can't recommend enough.

Sennheiser is a great audio brand. I use a pair of their momentum's (Not gaming headphones) and it sounds amazing. I'm planning to get one of their gaming headsets soon though.

I've tried both the game one and game zero (have the game zero on right now) plugged into two different amp/DACs as well as straight into my motherboard. What gets me the most is that the HyperX cloud II is $100 less and the mics sound about the same over Teamspeak and Skype. The cloud II comes with a case, two different types of ear pads (noise cancelling leather and a velour-type for a more open feel), and a DAC dongle while still remaining half the price as two Sennheiser game variants.

I might have felt differently if I just bought the PC 350SE (rebranded game zero. same specs except the game zero is $70 more) I might have felt differently.

edit: I will say - the game zero/one look so damn sexy. I loved the portability of the zero with the way they fold in.

The HD 280 is a closed headphone, avoid them if you do not need the noise isolation. See this guide for some awesome recommendations. If you NEED a headset, I personally used this until my dog chewed the cable. It sounds good, but it is closed, and the earpads were starting to show wear where it sat on my glasses.

I ordered the HT | OMEGA eClaro and it should be here this week.

I want clearer sound for conference calls and lectures. It will be used with a Sennheiser PC 350 SE headset although I am considering getting a Blue Microphones Snowball USB Microphone and either a Sennheiser HD25-1 II Closed-Back Headphones or Audio-Technica ATH-M50S...

Hello all! So I am in the market for a new headset and after a lot it looks like Sennheiser is the best option. I was hoping for some recommendations on which one to buy. The ones I'm looking at are the Game One, Game Zero (not really sure what the difference is), PC 350SE, and PC 363D. These are not set in stone however and I am open to suggestions.

Budget: I would like to keep it at $200 but am willing to go up to 250 if the improvement justifies it.

Source: I have an Asus G73 SW laptop. I'm not sure exactly what the sound card is but the specs are this:
EAX Advanced HD 5.0
THX TruStudio
I also have the turtle beach DSS2 thing that I can use.

Isolation:Nothing too much. Just want to be able to not hear and not be heard by my brother 10 ft away.

Prefered type: Over the ear

Tonal Balance: Don't really know, overall balanced I guess?

Past Headphones: Currently wearing Turtlebeach X12's. Tried the steelseries elite but after 4 different headsets breaking I gave up on them.

Prefered Music: Mix of everything really, nothing too out there. I usually play games like the total war series and Warthunder. Also I usually listen to history podcasts if that helps.

u/DaNPrS · 1 pointr/techsupportmacgyver

Sennheiser has some really nice options with mics. I have the PC360s and they are no comparison to the A30s I used to own.

u/improve · 1 pointr/headphones
  • Budget: $300
  • Source: Going to be purchasing a Fiio E10 to plug them into, then directly into my computers USB slot.
  • Isolation: Closed
  • Preferred Type: Fit over my ears
  • Past Headphones: Logitech g930

Let me start out by saying that I haven't purchased the amp(fiio e10) yet because I had a question about it.

I was thinking of either this: Sennheiser G4ME Zero or Sennheiser PC 350 Special Edition . I couldn't really find a difference between the two so I was looking for advice there.

The second thing is that the fiio e10 only has 1 slot for headphones but no mic, so my other question is, would an adapter such as this work? Sennheiser PCV .

I'm open to more suggestions of headphones but I would like the mic installed attached to them.

Sennheiser PC350 Headset. It's $130, so $20 over what you said was optimal...but the sound quality will likely blow away most other headsets at similar pricing since Amazon has it marked down.

Avoid Astro (mixamp is good, headset bundled with it is mediocre), Tritton, Sharkoon and Razer, what you get for your money isn't worth it. Steelseries and Logitech are decent at low-end prices, but Sennheiser and Audio-Technica I'd rate the highest for quality for the money.

u/Philliphobia · 1 pointr/buildapc

the kingston hyperx cloud is a pretty new headset but was made with Qpad, and is very well reviewed. the Sennheiser PC 250 also just fits under that budget, and is a solid headset to use for commentary etc. (the PC 360 is more popular, but also a lot more expensive).

I'm obviously abliged to say that if I were you I would get an antlion modmic and something like an ATH m50

u/darklynx4 · -2 pointsr/buildapc

its a "gaming headset" not by sennheiser or audio technica, so that means its complete garbage lol

for $150 http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Special-Edition-Performance-Headset/dp/B008O510Y8/ is by far the best thing you can probably buy. (unless you buy headphones and mic separate)

will require a sound card if you do not have the AC1150 audio codec on your motherboard built in audio (as the AC1150 is the only good integrated audio available)

without either of them, the mic and headphones will likely not sound very good.
