then I'd go with the Sennheiser HD25

Superb sound and isolation...and every single part is user replaceable in case something breaks.

Achieving high isolation with headphones that are non in-ear will be expensive. Either professional DJ headphones like the one mentioned above, or active noise cancelling headphones...but these will be even more expensive and may not fit children.

I'd 100% recommend Senheiser HD25's -

They're pretty much an 'industry standard' - used by a lot of people. Extremely durable, comfortable and sound great.

Alternatively, these are a great choice
https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Pro-DJ-HDJ-C70-Headphone/dp/B00NBU22FW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483486527&sr=8-1&keywords=Pioneer+HDjc70

Pioneer HDJ C70's. I tried both of these and they're both really good. I'd say the Senheisers seem a bit more durable - the headband snapped on my Pioneers (replaced for free by Pioneer though), but I really love the sound of the Pioneer's and they isolate outside noise incredibly. Having said that they can get a bit tight on the head but for me its not so bad, check them out if you can before if you buy any!

I think I've seen you post this before, and didn't think you would get an answer. I don't know of anything that fits your requirements, especially at your price point. The closest that I know of is the Sennheiser HD25.

I got mine off amazon:

You can actually disassemble it and attach the earcup stems directly to the band but it sounds so good you probably won't want to dedicate it to just the VR headset, especially since it's so easy to take on and off.

I made a post in the main subreddit but it got removed - my mistake I'll post it here. I see the posting guidelines but I respectfully choose to not format my post like that b/c I already know what I want - I'm just looking for clarification between two versions of the same headphones. Please see below:

Hey all,

looking to get some new closed back DJ headphone since my sony mdr 7506's are shorting out. I've decided on the sennheiser hd-25s, but Im confused on the different options.

I know there's the light version with one headband - I know I don't want that. I'm confused about the difference between the regular HD-25's and the HD-25-1 ii's - see below for links:

25s

25-1 ii's

Clearly the regular HD-25s are much cheaper, but why? Is there a big difference?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thank you! i do plan on taking them outside.

just one more question and i feel dumb for asking this but...

are they [these] (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01CRI3UOU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=MT2EY5KV0WXJ&coliid=I9EC5BZBHMDKI&th=1) (HD25)

or these? (HD25-1 II )

This is all you need man. They are the industry standard and offer great sound isolation. They're extremely durable and all parts can be purchased through their website in case anything does break down the road.

Budget - $50-$150, I know it's a big range--looking for most for my dollar.

Source - Galaxy S7, Macbook Pro. Nothing fancy.

Requirements for Isolation - Some isolation. Will mostly use at coffee shops while working on computer.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Looking for on-ear, closed back.

Preferred tonal balance - I mostly listen to rock / screamo. I read that V-shaped is good for rock, but I'm pretty new to those. Open to suggestions.

Past headphones - I had a pair of 1More's IEMs, but they've gone missing. Not necessarily looking to replace them, but find an on-ear alternative. (I still hope to find them...) I liked the sound and isolation.

Preferred Music - Hard Rock, Alternative Rock, stuff like A Day to Remember - All I Want

I want something durable and long-lasting. I'd much rather get a decent pair that can last for years. I'm careful with my stuff, but something that can take abuse would be nice. One pair that I've looked at was the Sennheiser HD25s, but wasn't sure if the price was worth it for casual use.
