Greg Bear's War-Dogs, where marines fight aliens on Mars while colonists ('Muskies') try to remain neutral.
Neal Stephenson's Seveneves has a main character (Sean Probst) who is basically Elon Musk.
Steven Gould's Exo mentions SpaceX repeatedly.
Here's a more comprehensive list.
The book Seveneves is another decent space survival book I enjoyed after reading The Martian. It's Neil Stephenson though so be prepared for things being very verbose. http://www.amazon.com/Seveneves-A-Novel-Neal-Stephenson/dp/0062190377
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson!!
Someone either has been or should be reading Seveneves.
/u/Tsubasa_sama, might I recommend the book Seveneves by Neal Stephenson? It's a book where Earth's moon blows on on the first page, then everyone has to deal with it. I think it's relevant to your interests.
Amazon even pairs it with this, Neal Stephenson's new novel

In the book something hits the moon and breaks it up into a bunch of large pieces and a lot of dust. (No spoilers, it's literally first line of the book) I always wanted some sort of visual for it, so I made this picture. Not the best but it still helps give an idea.
IMO awesome book, and I strongly recommend it to everyone looking for a good sci-fi read!

From the Amazon summary:
> From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Anathem, Reamde, and Cryptonomicon comes an exciting and thought-provoking science fiction epic—a grand story of annihilation and survival spanning five thousand years.
> What would happen if the world were ending?
> A catastrophic event renders the earth a ticking time bomb. In a feverish race against the inevitable, nations around the globe band together to devise an ambitious plan to ensure the survival of humanity far beyond our atmosphere, in outer space.
> But the complexities and unpredictability of human nature coupled with unforeseen challenges and dangers threaten the intrepid pioneers, until only a handful of survivors remain . . .
> Five thousand years later, their progeny—seven distinct races now three billion strong—embark on yet another audacious journey into the unknown . . . to an alien world utterly transformed by cataclysm and time: Earth.
> A writer of dazzling genius and imaginative vision, Neal Stephenson combines science, philosophy, technology, psychology, and literature in a magnificent work of speculative fiction that offers a portrait of a future that is both extraordinary and eerily recognizable. As he did in Anathem, Cryptonomicon, the Baroque Cycle, and Reamde, Stephenson explores some of our biggest ideas and perplexing challenges in a breathtaking saga that is daring, engrossing, and altogether brilliant.

It's by Neal Stephenson and is in a class of disaster where prepping is pretty meaningless.
