If, like me, you're not picky about your coffee, but you like the convenience of a Keurig, you can get 80 K-Cups for $26. The coffee actually has great reviews, too.
Why don't more people just use stuff like this in their Keurig? They're just as convenient, cheaper, 97% biodegradable, fare trade, and, in my experience, just better tasting than the vast majority of K-cup varieties.

No. I was thinking more along the lines of frugality is a means for personal joy and financial freedom. And r/frugal has become a bragging post on how not to spend money at all. Not cheapness, not frugality, but bragging. A display of anti-largess.
I'm feeling r/frugal should be a way for people to help each other see into life habits and change them. How showing me what was pulled out of a dumpster doesn't make me want to jump into a dumpster

There's a company out in california that makes k-kup compatible cups using all biodegradable materials. And they are cheaper than store brand generics. They come out to 37 cents a cup instead of 50 for store brand and 75 for keurig brand

It's good stuff for Keurig coffee, and the cups are 97% biodegradable, so you don't have to feel like a schmuck for wasting a shit ton of plastic.
Not OP, but I used to drink generic, regular coffee with 2 creams, 2 sugars. After trying "better" coffee and playing around with the Keurig at work, you begin to appreciate the actual blends and boldness of coffees, whereas adding creamer and sugar actually ruined the taste(s) for me. Aka different blends, stronger roasts, etc etc.
Right now, my favorite coffee is San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser and it's delicious!

I can't be too jealous because I also found a Kuerig at my local Goodwill. It was 12 bucks and pretty much brand new. I think it's the Keurig B40 which only has two cup sizes, which is annoying since they're both small...
The one thing that bugs me about these machines is the fact that they produce so much waste. I ended up getting these K-cups because not only were they the best deal, but they are also bio-degradable. Not only that, it's actually damn good coffee:

Get your K-Cups from Amazon, you can get them pretty cheap and in bulk. Personally I like San Francisco Bay Coffee's Fog Chaser blend. Nice bold cup, plus it's fair trade and the k-cup is biodegradable.
That sounds about right for k-cups. That's about 75 cents per cup.
I usually pay between .50 and .60 when I buy k-cups.
You can get them for as cheap as 36 cents each on amazon
Of course, it's still more expensive than grinding and brewing your own coffee (which you can also do anyway with reusable K-Cups), but the convenience factor is what you're paying for.

FYI, you can buy delicious, cheap, completely biodegradable k cups on Amazon. There are also plenty of recyclable brands out there as well.
I used the reusable K-cup thingie in my home Keurig, and it never worked right after that (we ended up replacing it shortly thereafter). I thought it was just bad timing, so I used it in our office one, and we had to buy a new office one then, too. I don't know why, but I had terrible luck with those.
I buy San Francisco Bay K-cups. I first saw them at Costco (which no longer sells them), loved them, and kept buying through Amazon. They are working towards 100% biodegradable packaging. Their K-cups don't have plastic on the bottom (just a plastic ring), and the bags that hold the K-cups I believe are compostable. Consider the SF Bay Fog Chaser. It's the best kcup I found where the taste isn't so compromising, and is (supposedly) environmentally friendly!

You can also get a reusable keurig filter and fill it with your own coffee. You just have to not overstuff it, and wash it of course!

I just bought these for the first time since I'm sick of cleaning the reusable and refillable cups. They're cheap and better for the environment, but I bought the Keurig for convenience. So what I just bought is good. Supposedly only the foil lid isn't compassable.

Yea they did. I got a mesh k cup with my keurig as a gift and it won't brew. That was actually the reason I wanted one. Now it barely gets used. They come in biodegradable bags as well. Plus the coffee is pretty good 8)
