I just want to throw in my understanding of K-tape (Being a kinesiology major in Canada). I think there is a bit of misunderstanding here as to what k tape is actually used for in the medical/professional field.

For the most part, K tape is used to limit range of motion for sport related injuries.

For example, if you were to roll your ankle in an inversion ankle sprain (the most common), stirrups are attached on the opposite side of the sprain and pulled into tension and attached to the side of the sprain to prevent further inversion of the ankle joint.

K tape can also be used for things like adding arch support for plantar fasciitis and adding as a temporary stabilizer for things like an achilles tendon injuries. You'll often see kinesiologists taping the hell out of an athlete during a tennis or rugby match here.

The tape we use is usually generic brand and a light tan colour. All other types of commercial k-tape will advertise basically whatever increases sales.

For what you are looking for I would really just recommend a proper knee compression sleeve. I use an open patella sleeve and it helps immensely for my squats. K-tape won't do much for you.

Edit:

Am stupid. K tape =/= athletic sport tape.

I wore generic 'wet-grip' gloves from the hardware store w/ the finger tips cut off in my first TM (tips removed for drainage), but I forgot them the second time. Didn't notice much of a difference.

Where I noticed a HUGE difference was with wearing knee compression wraps for my second TM- all those rocks/gravel tore the crap out of my knees the first time, but with the compression wraps, I could crawl without feeling like my knees were being shredded.
