I'm actually more of a fan of the 5 mic idea rather than one condenser, for the reasons that /u/carlmmii outlined below. I'm also going to second the idea that running the mixer via Line In, while it may work, isn't the best way to go about doing it. It will work, but the chances of having unintended audio issues (hum, etc) are increased. Instead, I would recommend pushing the mixer budget a little bit to get one with a dedicated USB audio out, or running the mixer L/R outputs into something like this.

As far as good mics in the $50 range, I'd go with Shure PG48s. They're cheap, sound decent, and Shure has a reputation of being incredibly tough. Regardless of which mic you pick, I'd recommend dynamic over condenser to cut down on the amount of vocal bleed (i.e. the voice of Player 1 getting picked up in Player 2's mic) and overall reduction in table noise/dice dropping/etc.

This mixer with this mic and this stand

The mic is a dynamic as opposed to a condenser (and on amazon comes with a free cable) So it won't pick up background noise nearly as bad as a condenser (especially the yeti) would, and the stand comes with a pop filter. When you decide to upgrade the mic, you can buy an inline phantom power box for like 20 bucks (the unit only has 15v, which isn't enough for most condensers) if you decide to go the condenser route down the road.

Ok well I won't explain everything in mine because it's a little over the top, but that's because I recorded music before I got into Twitch so I already had all my equipment. But what it essentially is a dynamic mic w/ XLR cable -> audio interface w/ USB cable -> computer. Here's the cheapest possible setup I could find on Amazon:

Shure PGA48 w/ 15' XLR cable: $40

Behringer Xenyx Q502USB: $60

Neewer Suspension Boom Stand: $14

total: $114

Do keep in mind that this mixer only has one pre-amp, meaning you'd only be able to plug one mic into it. If you wanted to plug in more than one mic (for instance if you have a friend coming over or something), you'd need a different mixer with more preamps. But yea my setup is essentially the above, just with more expensive stuff haha

Note how even when I grab the mic and move it, you barely hear anything. That'd never happen with a condenser mic.

Any XRL mic will work it's just a question of how it will sound. Just from a quick look at amazon I found THIS highly rated with 4.6 stars.

I'm going to - Both shure mics were recommended as good mics under $50 just wanted some more opinions on them.lly not sure where to start and i need some suggestions. I've found a few, if you could give me your thoughts on them as well.

Behringer Ultravoilet xm8500 - This was suggested in the U.S gamer section, wondering if its a good choice considering how cheap it is.

Shure SM48-LC - Both shure mics were reccomended as good mics under $50 just wanted some more opinions on them.

I've done a bit of research and i think dynamic would probably be better for me, as I'm in a somewhat open room and i fear a condenser microphone might pick up background noise, or my loud keyboard.

I might end up with a Scarlett solo audio interface soon, so I'd like to get a mic that i can take advantage of it. I plan on using it for chatting over discord, games, and recording voice overs. Thanks in advance!

And of course there are plenty of others, but hopefully this list gets you started looking! I listed them cheapest to most expensive (the E835 is $100), but any of them will be good.

I'm considering this Shure over the $14 Pyle. Do I need the XLR to XLR or the XLR to QTR? I'm pretty sure that the QTR stands for 1/4" but I'm not going to assume and buy the wrong thing. lol And yes, my living room is carpeted!
