With this you can actualy forget about tape and make full size stick to tablet which should with some minor manual skills looks better than taped one.

I use double-sided adhesive paper. Typically, I'll peel one side and back it onto whatever paper I want to stick, and then cut my shape. It does make the medium a little thicker/harder to work with (edit: so not sure it will work with a machine, I've been cutting my shapes by hand so far), but it stays put exactly where you want it, is totally uniform, and you don't have any problems with excess like some liquid adhesives. Certainly better than any glues I've used, though I haven't tried spray adhesives so I can't compare.
There are plenty of generic sources, here's what I bought.
If you have a cricut or silouhette machine, you can get letter sized adhesive sheets from silouhette and cut out shapes. I've used it for glitter unicorn horns and script successfully. The results are really clean.
