Instead of a cricut, you should get a silhouette!!!!

They are basically the same thing, but with cricut you can only cut out their designs and buy their cartridges (like $50 each). With silhouette you can design anything you want! Download any font from online, or whatever. It's like a MS paint for cutting. Plus, they have an online store that you can download one image at at time and they're only .99c each!!! I love love love my silhouette machine!!!
I swear I don't work for them lol. I just sing praises to it and thank my lucky stars I found it when I was considering getting a cricut. It is SO much better!
you can use something like this

(or larger plotters) and print off your computer.
I probably should have taken more pictures, but here's the few I did take.
(I've literally never used Imgur before so let me know if this link is dead)

A couple years ago my wife bought one of these

and I played around with it every now and then. I usually just make window decals but I saw the post of the Futurama sign cut on a CNC machine and thought "I could make something kinda like that" so I started playing around with different ways of doing this and the Clamps is the first time I've successfully gotten it to work.
The wood needs to be fairly smooth AND SUPER CLEAN or the vinyl will just stick to whatever is on top of the wood, dust, dirt, oil, whatever, and never stick to anything else ever again.
Hopefully I answered at least part of your question.
Here you go

Here's a silhouette Cameo. We have an Silhouette SD which was cheaper when we bought it, but it only does 9" wide and this appears to do 12". This is a starter lot which includes a bunch of things. I know Cricut makes machines that are good, but never used them. We avoided Cricut because they used to make you buy cartridges, which were insanely expensive and only had a few shapes.
With the silhouette software I can take any image and make a shape out of it. I'll find some previous images and post them if I can.
The Silhouette Cameo Starter Bundle
It's basically a machine to create stencils.
I've been a street/stencil artist for about 3 years now with several milestones and down and out moments. The more I get into the art scene the more I realize that I need a more efficient way to design, paint, and create my work. Everything up until now has been hand cut. For repetitive patterns and half tone designs its very time consuming and difficult to consistently cut stencils while working full time. This machine would bring my passion, art, to a new level and bring me back into the world I love.
You guys get the short end of the stick, the Cameo with the bundle is only $270 in the US.
#1 wanted Amazon item! and if I win, I like picture #4 or #3. Thanks for the contest!

I saw someone on here the other day recommending a Silhouette Cameo. From what I've come across the Cameo is more recommended than the Cricut.
