Can you think of a less glamorous woodworking project?

I wanted a cupboard bin that re-uses carrier bags (something like this but couldn't find one that would fit in my narrow cupboards..) so I made my own as a good excuse to try some dovetail joints by hand.

Main lessons learned:

Don't use construction lumber. Cutting with the dovetail saw was ok, but chiselling was a nightmare.. too brittle and weak. Luckily only had to throw away one piece which had split.
I need a workbench. Any suggestions on a bench for using handtools when the only place I have to work is the garden? Maybe next time I'll just have to stack more layers of MDF on the trestles.
It was quite satisfying to construct something without powertools or screws!

If you still use plastic grocery bags, I've had this simplehuman thing under my sink for 4 years so far. I haven't had any problem with smell, but I do throw it out pretty often. Maybe you should shoot for a smaller can to force frequent disposal so the stank doesn't build up?
