For the Nexus 4, we use a SlimPort cable to connect to any 1080p HDMI panel:

http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort%C2%AE-SP1002-Connect-connector-Supports/dp/B009UZBLSG

Mouse and keyboard are connected via bluetooth. USB OTG would be nicer, but the N4 doesn't support that standard.

Please note that the above description is an internal developer setup. The final product that we ship may end up looking different, so I wouldn't go spending $$ on peripherals at this time.

This. That particular item is currently marked as unavailable, but many apparently identical ones seem to be out there.

Worked perfectly whenever I've used it, although some apps won't display over an HDMI interface. Pretty sure that's a limitation of the app rather than the device, though.

u/DirtyDurham · 5 pointsr/Android

Yes. It's MicroUSB and the SlimPort adapter is MicroUSB to HDMI

Yes.

This is probably the wrong subreddit to state this is, but I've been having a great time just doing this on my phone. Plus my Snapdragon S4 Pro is smoother than the Tegra 3 in the Ouya. Admittedly, in the end the price (not including the phone) is similar to Ouya, though.

I really like the setup. I think it's a big plus to be able to play any game on the Play Store this way (with appropriate touch mapping profiles, if necessary) or sideload any game, like Humble Bundle.

That said, I really think Ouya's heart is in the right place, it would just have to deliver performance closer to what I'd expect from a tv-dedicated console. If it had a Snapdragon 800 SoC, I'd snatch one up in a heartbeat.

Edit: Reading other posts on here, it appears you can sideload .apks to Ouya. I guess my only complaint is the aforementioned SoC.

You can. Also, with lollipop I have been using the built in Google Cast feature, which works quite well.

The HP11 uses a funky "Slimport" HDMI port - $50 for just the slimport to normal HDMI.

Here's one for $30.

And you'd still need the hdmi->DVI on top of that.

The only one on the market is really the Analogix one. It goes in and out of stock on Amazon with varying prices. I got mine for USD $30.

You need a slim port HDMI adapter, this one has been verified to work with the n4, but I am sure there are others.

Don't know if your local electronic store sells them but lots on Amazon or EBay.

Edit: obviously they are marking these up just a bit... I had a look at the price.. Yikes! Try eBay maybe!

Not sure why it's so expensive now, but I got one from Amazon for the same exact thing during the launch of the Nexus 4 for $20

It's also used by the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013, some people prefer it over MHL because it can display 4k and uses internal power of the device vs needing a remote powersource

A few suggestions...

You can try installing an app called AirDroid through the Google Play Store online and accessing photos that way. Or you could try a slimport connector with a usb otg cable which allows you to hook into an HDTV and control your phone screen with a mouse. Good luck!

u/minimalistjake · 1 pointr/Android

Yes and yes, however there's another usb port on the adapter that you can plug your charger into so the device can charge while playing.

My experience with my Nexus 4 is that it pretty much maintains it's current power level while I watch an HD movie (i think it actually goes up a very small amount).

Maybe try a [slimport] (http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort%C2%AE-SP1002-Connect-connector-Supports/dp/B009UZBLSG) adapter? It should mirror the screen to anything with an HDMI input. As long as your digitizer works you should be able to interact with it, but I think you lose USB when it's plugged in.

u/noahajac · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

I actually think the Nexus 4 uses SlimPort instead of MHL. So something like this.

u/spoondigg · 1 pointr/nexus4

The only legit Slimport I know of is this one. It's almost 3 times that of a MHL (since they don't work on our N4's) but there aren't too many manufacturers that make the Slimport. Trust me, i've looked around. Plus, it looks like Amazon restocked this model. It was sold out for awhile and people that had one, marked up the price to almost three to six times of the original.

Could you borrow a slimport cable, maybe? I think that would give you video. http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort%C2%AE-SP1002-Connect-connector-Supports/dp/B009UZBLSG

u/nuinbot · -2 pointsr/Nexus7

I have heard people use a SlimPort. Amazon link here. As mentioned below, 2012 model doesn't support video out. Didn't realize this at the time as I have never attempted it on my 2012 N7.

Any Bluetooth wireless keyboard should work. You usually just need to sync it with the N7.
