Lunchables are a money pit: $2.50 on sale for a little bit of processed meat, some cheese food, a couple of crackers, and fake juice.

You can make your own lunchables with compartmented lunch trays like these, cut up the lunch meat and cheese yourself, add a bottle of reasonably healthy juice and some crackers. Do a week's worth of cutting at once to save time.

On that note, you can cook a week's worth of meals on a Sunday afternoon (or whatever your best time is, you just need 3-5 hours, depending on what you're cooking). I have 2 kids, and I like to package the meals in individual servings so that some nights everyone can have whatever they want instead of everyone eating the same thing.

The biggest help I've found is to plan the menu for the entire week - that way you're not stuck trying to decide what to cook at 5pm on a Tuesday when you're tired from work and the kids are cranky. By comparison, cooking isn't really a time drain, and obviously cooking is cheaper than eating out.

I use this and another one similar to it with the bigger section divided into two.

Thanks! We have a lot of plastic containers at home, I just want something that can easily fit in a purse. If I don't want to get a 4-set, I was thinking that this bento-box style meal kit might be a good alternative: https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Planet-3-Compartment-Silicone-Collapsible/dp/B0051XRY4Q/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=collapsible+meal+kit&qid=1556468389&s=gateway&sr=8-2

I want something reusable, eco-friendly, microwaveable, dishwasher-safe and collapsible is what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone could share their experience with this collapsible technology and if it's worth it.

I think a good lunchbox is always useful!

I'm not huge on meal prepping, because knowing what I'm going to eat three days from now will end up turning me off of that food. That said, I try and make sure I have these staples in my house I know I can make an easy meal out of. I also will pre-cut fruit or vegetables so I can grab and go when packing a lunch or making a plate for dinner.

I use one of [these] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051XRY4Q/ref=twister_B074HTDHZ8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) for lunch. I use the large container for raw veggies and the smaller ones for fruit and an entree (sometimes something simple like a hummus rollup, sometimes leftovers from dinner).
