For that particular one it is a deal. I found it at amazon for $60.

However, there are others on amazon with better reviews for less.

I'm sure the jewelers have much nicer ones, but this one is the best home model I've seen. My mom has had this one for years, and so when we got one a few years back, we got the same thing.

  • 3/4 of rebuilding a carb is cleaning it. Little sonic cleaners are really useful for that, might be a good investment if you want to make a habit of this. They're pretty cheap too. Otherwise, use plenty of carb cleaner and soak parts in kerosene or gasoline if you have to.

  • Egg cartons make good small hardware organizers. Lay masking tape on the top of the egg carton so you can write labels for what each section contains.

  • Take lots and lots of pictures as it's coming apart.

    Enjoy!

Ultrasonic cleaner. I have a Pelikan M1005 that gets ink trapped in a similar place (though far worse than what you've got there). A few sessions through an ultrasonic cleaner (with just water) is the only thing I've found to clean it. I've got this one: https://smile.amazon.com/Magnasonic-Professional-Ultrasonic-Eyeglasses-Instruments/dp/B00HZVYAVM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1519425859&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=magnasonic&psc=1, but I paid less than $30 for it. There's a generic version here: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKDAVW/ref=s9_acsd_top_hd_bw_b7y76x9_c_x_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-4&pf_rd_r=RT7A210MF6K2E72AQJ3C&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=2bf196d5-cd11-5e7e-9fec-0115114cedf4&pf_rd_i=7301205011 which looks identical and is probably just as good.

Get yourself a cheap ultrasonic cleaner. I think I got this one. Really useful for for doing a deep clean on your airbrush.

Don't have to use it like every time you use the airbrush, unless you just feel like it, but you generally have some build up in it even if you flush it with cleaning solution after use. The little bits that you don't manage to get out will eventually give you some issues, so it is good to completely take it apart and do a deep clean every once in awhile. The ultrasonic cleaner makes it really easy.

u/Snackosaurus · 3 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

Pretty sure a lot of people know about this, but figured I'd post it for others.

Step 1: Acquire ultrasonic cleaner. I'm using this one.

Step 2: Bend a paper clip. Like this.

Step 3. Take paperclip and place the it over the On button, and clamp it down.

Just as a word of caution, this will cause the water to heat up. I used my kitchen instant read thermometer and it registered between 140°~145° after an hour of use.

u/jobelle007 · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You know how when you go to the eye doctor and they take your glasses they come back super clean? They're using a sonic cleaner and you can get one at home for about $60-70 dollars. They're also amazing for cleaning a lot of jewelry. It could be worth the investment if you want it done really well since they get in all the little crannies. My family has one and we use it all the time.

Special thanks to u/Morgan-3D and u/Lps2 for the STLS! I modified the Poseidon/Mod holder to fit my Joytech infinite....had an error when printing and it ended up being a perfect fit for the reverse banger and grommet. Coil holder and second Poseidon stand are awesome, thanks again to everyone here for providing so many tips. Happy Sunday y'all!

Details:

Joytech Espion Infinite & Sai TAF (Awesome Mod, but no Arctic Fox compatibility. The TCR mode is great so I don't feel like I'm missing out too much; I have a backup VooPoo I'll get around to flashing soon).

Usually running Triple Black Ceramic, TCR 366 / 27 Watts / 360 - 430 / Locked @ 0.29 with the Reverse Banger on a halfway decent rig. I get very solid clouds and throaty strong rips all day. I have some ti & quartz buckets to try but I'm so happy with the Triple Black I haven't got around to it yet.

Favorite items are obviously the 3D Prints and Reverse Banger. Loving this wax Carver kit (you can't beat this price anywhere) : SE DD312 12-Piece Stainless Steel Wax Carvers Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SVRSRY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CMOQCb61J6RYC

Also, this ultrasonic cleaner and portable case with ice packs is a must for me (all recommendations from waxpen & r/saionara):

Gift cards are always nice - generic ones like Amazon, Michaels, Etsy, or more specific experiences, like a mani/pedi, facial, dinner out?

For items - a nice picture frame if she's done engagement photos? Ultrasonic jewelry cleaner? I personally was a total disaster with organization, "wedding crap" all got stored in Amazon boxes that we collected over time, but maybe nice storage boxes for stuff and folders for contracts? A travel garment steamer to have on hand for last minute stuff? Or to go in a completely different direction, adult coloring books are great for stress relief.

Or, I know a lot of brides debate on what pinteresty getting-ready stuff to get - they're all extra and not necessary, but oh so pretty. So maybe one of those popular personalized hangers for her dress, or a nice robe, or champagne flutes?

u/PBatW · 3 pointsr/Warhammer

The best combination for removing paint is Purple Power + a Sonic Cleaner. The sonic cleaner is optional, but a suitably sized one can be had for around 30 dollars from Amazon, and will make your life a lot easier when it comes to getting paint out of the details.

Edit: Here is the link to the Sonic Cleaner I use: Sonic Cleaner

Just put the models in the sonic cleaner full of purple power, let them sit a few hours, run the sonic cleaner a few cycles, then take out and brush with a toothbrush.

Love this site because sometimes it lets you know when amazon is doing that bullshit "90% OFF" crap when its always that price. Also lets you set up alerts to tell you when something drops below a price. (Im cheap so i use it a lot.)

u/vaparagno · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

You're welcome, I'm glad you like it and found it useful. As for the ultrasonic cleaner, I can't say I have any specs to recommend. I can share my experience and lessons learned. Here's the first on I bought on Amazon. It's $28. This one only runs on three minute cycles and I got tired of turning it back on so I upgraded to this one for $50. It runs on 60 minute cycles. But .... after upgrading, I read a someone here that said to use a clothes pin or chip clip to hold the start button down on the first one. Sure enough, that works perfectly. Both work well for me (after using the little trick) so I'd say go with what is in your price range. The $50 one has a built in heater, but I pour very warm water in anyway.

u/justanotherpony · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

cant find mine on amazon.com, tho this one for $25 looks ok, http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Eyeglass-Cleaning/dp/B001DKDAVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426899313&sr=8-1&keywords=ultrasonic+cleaner

The place where you bought your glasses might have one of these machines:

https://www.amazon.com/Generic-CD-2800-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Eyeglass/dp/B001DKDAVW

Call them and ask about "ultrasonic cleaning." They might clean your glasses for free.

u/redbic · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

This is the one I have. It's VERY basic, one cycle of 3 minutes but it does its job. To get around the 3 minute cycle use a large binder clip (this) to hold down the power button.

What it does is vibrates the water. Maybe something more technical but I'm pretty sure that's the gist of it. These vibrations mix up as well as heat the juice very well allowing it to blend. I run my juices through for about 2 hours and give them a 30 second hand-shaking and then run for another hour. It speeds the steeping process up by days, even weeks.

u/Dealjobber · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

For anyone looking where OP got theirs from, it's here:

As far as cleaning atomizers, how much crap does it remove even after you rinse them? Been thinking about picking one of these up.

u/madchild77 · 2 pointsr/Waxpen

I recommend anyone who uses a lot of concentrates look into getting an Ultrasonic Cleaner for cleaning. I got a cheap one on Amazon that works well. I fill it with near boiling water and drop a ziplock baggy with ISO and dirty coils in and cycle it a few times. Coils come out pretty clean without any scrubbing. If there's built up carbon on the coils, it doesn't get it all off but certainly works better than hot ISO bath alone.

A friend of mine recently got one from eBay that has a heater and settable timers and does a much better job than the one I have

u/Lets_Jump_This_Jump · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice
u/PM_Me_Your_Clones · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

Same price as the one I have already (that IIRC I got for less than currently advertised due to the fickle whims of the lords of Amazon). Also note, 3 minute cutoff makes it problematic if you want to try speed-steeping, I usually thwart that with a rubber band and a cork but I don't know if that would work with this model.

Ah, I remember different. But the sonic cleaner works the same (staed by that original author 2 days ago via facebook) for a shorter period of time.

>I feel like an embarrassment to my profession. Something totally slipped my mind. Of course sonicating a sample would work exactly like heating it. Adding energy to a system doesn't care if its sound or heat. Joules of energy is Joules of energy. At the molecular level the heat is the expression of the kinetic energy of molecules. If you add enough energy with sonication to bring the sample to 160f you will have the same reaction conditions as a sample heated to 160f.
>In fact both will mix the same, sonication vs brownian motion, whatever.

If you want to clean it try this ultrasonic cleaner It works pretty good for everything

u/Paradox · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Instead of using a toothbrush and elbow grease to clean your keyboard, you should get an ultrasonic cleaner.

I have one to clean my watch and ring, and it works great for keycaps. This + drop of Dr.Bronners soap = clean keycaps

u/Nightfalcon4 · 1 pointr/Gunpla

Same concept, more specialized application. Where a Sonicator can be used for chemistry and to advance crystallization, an ultrasonic cleaner is usually sold for the purpose of just cleaning equipment. Here's a variant of the one I use for my Airbrushes

u/dropbrian · 1 pointr/fountainpens

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKDAVW I got the exact one, but it was labeled differently so I spent $2.50 less or something.

u/guisar · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

You can pick them up on Amazon [for even less](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKDAVW/] - I have one but don't have any experience with "professional" ones so not sure how relatively effective it is.

u/madalienmonk · 1 pointr/fountainpens

Thanks! Found an oval one for with a lot of reviews for $25 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKDAVW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Are there any rules for what goes into one of these pen wise? Will it take paint off hand painted ones etc? Pen materials that are/aren't ok to put in?

u/BraveSirDave · 1 pointr/minipainting

I use a cheap one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKDAVW

It gets somewhat warm if I do repeated cycles but nowhere near hot enough to damage the miniatures in any way.

Note: sonic cleaners help if you're in a hurry, but you're not going to get results much different than a very long bath in whatever stripper you're using (for me it's simple green). And you'll still need a toothbrush to clean up the model anyway.

tl;dr useful, but not a must have.

u/Disconn3ct · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

This one was recommended by an ultrasonic tech on ECF a couple years back and works really well for me. (He mostly recommended it for steeping but it does fine at cleaning as well.)

  • Steeping: Warm water, 3 3-minute cycles (shake between)
  • Cleaning: warm water or vodka or cheap grain booze, 3 to 6 3-minute cycles depending on how nasty the atty/etc is.
u/UnderlyVerbose · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

I bought one of these a few months ago, and it's been great. Depending on what you're trying to clean, it may not be big enough for you though.

As far as the procedure, I usually use HOT water and a couple drops of dish soap, run it 2-3 cycles (depending on how dirty), change out for fresh HOT water for another 2 cycles, and then with cool water for a final rinse cycle.

I've never had anything "not" come clean with that procedure, save for some really dirty stuff that had to be cleaned mechanically.

u/reginfulleffect · 1 pointr/Trombone

I agree with the previous comments. Once you are in a cleaning routine, I highly recommend one of these sonic cleaners. I bought it to clean my glasses initially, but tried my mouthpiece and it worked great. I tend to use it once a week or so to keep the mouthpiece nice and clean.

u/Silverkarn · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

You happen to know where i can get one? I've modified one of THESE to bypass the 3 minute timer and make the switch off/on instead, maybe i can do that with the one you're talking about.

I'd rather get one that can keep the water warm/hot though.

u/Willie_Green · 1 pointr/Silverbugs

Get a Ultrasonic Jewelry & Eyeglass Cleaner. Your choice what kind of cleaning solution you want to put in: Some brand name specially made for gold/silver jewelry or your own home brew of plain water & dish detergent. Read the instructions... what kind of solvent you use often depends on what kind of "gunk" is stuck to your coins, jewelry, eyeglasses, etc.

I'd avoid any kind of abrasive cleaners or cloths that might scratch whatever it is that you're trying to clean... Good Luck!

u/cremestick · 1 pointr/RBA

I usually wash it with some dish soap and hot water, then throw it into an ultrasonic cleaner which is great because then you don't have to worry about losing small pieces down the drain.

u/MyDarnSnakeLegs · 1 pointr/fountainpens
u/Mortal_Scum · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Well, I guess that's subjective. If you've got lots of spare time and are obsessive like me, your best bet is probably just to go ahead and clean it, since it's probably going to bug you anyways.

Later-gen switches are fine for cleaning: use compressed air (or your mouth + straw) to clean out the housing, and water + paper towel for the stems. Early-gen switches (like oranges & blues) have dry lube on the stem that might rub off with overzealous cleaning, so cleaning is best done conservatively---a dry wipe-down of the stems with a microfiber cloth, followed by a wet wipe-down if necessary. Yeah, it's a pain, but you (probably) won't have to do it again for a long, long time.

A couple caveats---don't use soap, and don't clean the metal leafs. Soap can leave a dry film on the slider that increases scratchiness, and the metal leafs are pretty sensitive when it comes to cleaning, which can alter switch feel (or result in loss of clickiness in white/blue Alps!).

EDIT: You could also go nuts and get one of these, which I've heard work pretty well: https://www.amazon.com/Generic-CD-2800-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Eyeglass/dp/B001DKDAVW

You can buy an ultrasonic cleaner for as little as $25. Why would you pay $40 plus shipping to use somebody else's?

If the silo doors are bent or the TTO mechanisms aren't working properly, that's another thing. But for a quick clean-and-polish there's no reason to send a razor out.

u/RamenProfitable · 1 pointr/Warhammer

Its a small reservoir that vibrates at very high frequencies. Its frequently used to clean very small parts like jewelry, etc.

http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Eyeglass-Cleaning/dp/B001DKDAVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412266694&sr=8-1&keywords=ultrasonic+cleaner

Put your simple green solution in there with your models, run cleaner, scrub them when its done, and then rinse your models. You should be in a pretty good spot after that.

Also, make sure you rinse the ultra sonic cleaner well after you're done with it. If you leave paint residue in it, it becomes less effective.

Saves a lot of time and effort. Toss your small glass pieces, bowls, downstems, bangers, whatever in a ziploc bag with ISO and salt or your favorite cleaning solution (I've been using formula 420 lately) seal the baggy, put warm water in the jewelry cleaner with the ziploc baggy and 2 or 3 cycles should have it looking brand new while you do something else.

I bought it off Amazon. The brand is Magnasonic, but the listing has a different name now for some reason. I just pulled this from my order history.

Go to Amazon.com and buy a cheap ultrasonic cleaner like this one and drop in your watch. Normally I'd say with a little dish soap but in your case it may not be necessary. It will come out clean of the caked-on soap, sparkly and clean. Huge fan. Also works great on eyeglasses and jewelery.
