>A negative result indicates that the count is below the 20 million sperm per milliliter

fuck that...

The average volume of semen is 2.75 mililiters(ml), ranging from 2-6 m

so potentially 120 million too many

It's pretty easy to find testing kits on Amazon, but from what I've seen those cost $25-$45 each and only tell you in an analog fashion that your sperm count is above or below 20 million.

My recommendation (the rest of this is just a repost of something I posted earlier this week--sorry to anyone that's seen this before):
If you're looking for a long term solution that requires some investment but could really ease your mind...

You could buy

-A Microscope

-Some slides

-And some pipettes

...and then check your sperm count once or twice a year. All that costs about $100, but it should last you decades. I won't have my vasectomy until a couple weeks from now, but I've purchased these items and looked at my sperm under the microscope in order to get a feel for it.

Count the sperm in the 400x field of view. Record the numbers on the analysis sheet, or multiply the number by .5 to see the total. The total number of sperm is counted in millions, so a result of 72 would mean approximately 72,000,000 sperm.

According to the World Health Organisation, a man needs a sperm count of at least 20 million sperm per millilitre of ejaculate to have a chance of conceiving a child without medical intervention.

Amazon reviews are mixed with people reporting false readings.

Over a year of TTC (6 months of "not preventing" and ~10 cycles of actively tracking cycles and timing intercourse), when we first met with an RE. SA through a doctor is relatively cheap - not much more than a few cycles of ovulation testers.

There are also at-home semen count tests. They don't answer sperm quality questions but if you are interested in delaying medical involvement as long as possible, that could be a next step to determine quantity.

When we looked, the at-home quantity-only test was $40. Even without insurance, a quantity & quality lab analysis from the doctor was $80. We decided to do the full lab test.

This one! It only checks count so not conclusive but it's better than nothing.

Good call. If I'm still fertile while on trt, I'll just cruise until I knock her up.

What do you think about this?

This is the at home test we used:

There's some reviews that say it isn't accurate, but it's actually really involved in doing it. We're definitely going to get a doctors test, in fact we have an appointment next Wednesday at Shady Grove to see what our options are.

We really like PreSeed even though I seem to have a good amount of CM. I was worried about MFI so we used a home test called SpermCheck. It only checks the quantity and not the quality but it was much easier than getting a SA. The labs in my area require a doctor's referral for SA and I wasn't sure how easily we could get one since we're only on cycle 3 (but 7-8 cycles of analyzing). I'm a bit wary about supplements so wanted to test first before asking DH to take FertilAid.

Yes but then you could end up taking just below the toxic dose for a long period of time. If you were to do that, I'd say start with a low dose and after a month get your blood tested and get a [fertility test](SpermCheck Fertility Home Sperm Test https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007N8FWB4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-f2RAbMKK2ZTY) done.

There's a home test you can do. I've seen it at Walgreens and you can buy it on Amazon too. It's obviously not AS accurate as a physician run test, but it might ease your worries.

That’s the wrong kit probably. There’s a different one from the same company for fertility levels. I don’t know exactly what it tells you but the vasectomy one is basically a pass/fail test
