Our first son went through this. He'd be wet. The bed was wet. He'd be covered in those absorbent crystals gel things that they put in diapers. It was gross. We used diaper inserts. They worked. Here's an example of one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00839749A/ref=mh_s9_acsd_top_bBHlHH_c_x_2_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-4&pf_rd_r=SHAJ7V50WQ1SN4P8GKX4&pf_rd_r=SHAJ7V50WQ1SN4P8GKX4&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_p=0c63284f-7074-5f9b-b74a-67c3b2ee47bd&pf_rd_p=0c63284f-7074-5f9b-b74a-67c3b2ee47bd&pf_rd_i=166773011
Although, we ultimately just went up to size 5 and closed them a little tighter I think. We did the same for the following 2 kids. Another boy and a girl. I've found that all of our oversaturated or leaky diaper problems were fixed when we went up a size. One of the kids we went up to a size 6 at night for a little while, and then he started to pee less at night at some point randomly.
I had lots of luck with these: Sposie Booster Pads Diaper Doublers, 30 Pads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00839749A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CnjJAb2NY689A

Hi,
I ran into the same problem with my son. The only thing that’s working for us is inserting a Sposie Booster Pad into his overnight diaper at night. He is able to sleep without leaking from 7pm until he wakes up in the morning. Hope this helps!

We used booster pads with his regular diapers overnight. We got these:

We used booster pads to get us some more absorbency overnight for our first: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00839749A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1GLQDbK55YC1R
We had to deal with this, and tried everything. What worked best in the end was an overnight diaper (the right size; not sized up) plus a diaper pad (e.g. Sposie - it's an insert to soak up more pee! Almost like adding a maxi pad to the diaper - LOL) plus a cloth diaper cover (the plastic ones.)
We have these headphones that limit how high the volume can go and are (so far) indestructible. These are the booster pads we use overnight but I also toss one in her diaper for flights. It just makes the diaper last longer (for pee). This reminds me though... now that Toddler is potty trained, I'm not sure what we'll do for flights. Probably toss her in a pull up with a booster pad until she's a little older.
I used these when that happened with my son.

I'm going through a similar problem with my 8 month old. Just started sleeping through the night but now he wakes up pissed off because he's all wet.
I found these diaper pads that go in the diaper and ordered a pack. The reviews look good so I'm hopeful the will help, but I don't have any first hand experience with them yet.

Just wanted to give you another suggestion in case the bigger diaper doesn't work! For boys they suggest folding the pad in half with the two ends facing down, and placing it in the front of the diaper. For girls, you would place it unfolded in the diaper.
Try Pampers Baby Dry! They’re amazing for overnight. When H gets towards the top of the weight limits we size up for nighttime and very rarely have leaks. Luvs are also great at absorption but they puff up like nobody’s business. There’s also something called Sposies that are like menstrual pads for diapers that increase what they can hold. This might also help your gap problem.
You could try a doubler. These work great for extra absorbency overnight:

You just stick them right in the diaper and they add to the absorbency of your diaper. Toss it in the morning along with the diaper. They're great for heavy wetters!
No, we didn't find diapers that would hold my daughter's pee in over night. So I bought diaper liners to add 12oz extra absorbency.

We used these for over a year, and they worked great. Not affiliated.
We did the same when my son went through a phase of peeing A LOT at night. I think he was in size 3's at the time. We'd put a size 4 on at night with a diaper booster pad inside. It worked most nights.
I used [Sposie Booster Pads Diaper Doublers] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00839749A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). You might also consider [waterproof pads] (https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Training-Puppy-Pads-Regular/dp/B00MW8G62E/ref=sr_1_1) under a blanket that can be easily swapped in the middle of the night.
I can't help with the wetness sensitivity part because we fortunately don't have that problem. I can help with the leaking out of disposables issue though. We have better luck with cloth overnight. Disposables always leak. But I wanted a solution for when we went out of town. Disposable booster diaper pads were the answer. I tried the [Babies R Us brand] (https://www.toysrus.com/buy/disposable-diapers/babiesrus-booster-diaper-pads-value-pack-90-count-5f63184-60345266) avail. until they run out or close forever, and Amazon sells Sposie brand which is more expensive. Someone in a review mentioned folding them in half to put all the absorbency up front for a boy and while the insert was super soaked and gross honestly, he didn't leak!
They make diaper doublers for this purpose - they are basically sanitary pads without the waterproof backing. They work beautifully for our heavy wetter/deep sleeper, although depending on what size diapers your LO is in it might be cheaper to double up on diapers and just fold down the front and back of the inner one.
