We found 62 Reddit comments about SpyTec A119 Version 2 Car Dash 60 FPS 1440p Camera with GPS Logger Mount G-Sensor Wide Angle Lens and Low Light Recording. Here are the top ones, ranked by their Reddit score.
1440P dash cam w/ GPS LOGGER: The camera will start recording automatically as soon as an accident occurs. With the GPS logger, the camera lets you track the speed and location of your vehicle. When you’re finished recording, just plug the dashcam into your computer or Phone and you can see where you’ve been and how fast you were going.160° SUPER WIDE ANGLE: It also has a 160-degree wide-angle lens that lets you see or records on both sides of the road. The lens sits on a rotating axis, so you can quickly change the angle without having to reattach the camera.CAPACITOR MODEL: Instead of using a battery, the A119 uses a capacitor that plugs directly into your car. You can keep driving for hours on end and the car camera will never lose power. The capacitor also helps protect your backup dash camera against extreme temperatures. You can leave the A119 in your cars for long periods of time and the video camera won’t freeze up or overheat.STORAGE SPACE: With a 64GB memory card, the mini camera can store up to 7 hours of HD video. The camera even comes with a loop recording feature, which means that the backup camera will write over your existing footage when the memory card is full. You can keep driving without having to constantly transfer your files.EASY TO USE: The A119 driving recorder has all of the features you need to protect yourself on the road. Motion Sensor, Seamless Loop Recording, G Sensor satisfy your need for daily driving. Simple installation and operation, no need to worry even for a first time user.
Last time reddit talked about dashcams this one came highly recommended. It's on Amazon and it's Prime. 1440p/30fps or 1080p/60fps.
This is currently on my Christmas List this year,
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HN0HBFG/
I bought that back in April. It was the next model up from the one that my gf at the time had and she recommended it to me. It doesn't have a battery in it and instead uses a capacitor which is a lot better. I've had no problems with it the whole time I've had it.
There are several A119 v2s
-----------
Some have the Black Foam pads, which was a major want from A119 users since A119 v1. - More discreet, and foam pad absorbs vibration. Some are good deals, others are meh.
90 degree adapter is only important if you don't use GPS mount. However, this was a major complaint from A119 v1 users having to use (side) dash cam power port - Not discreet, instead of (top) GPS mount power port - Discreet.
Anyways, Different retailers, different No GPS/GPS, and different extras.
You can buy them at amazon, eBay, and many other places.

Didn’t see your pile-up as I was already at work. Sorry.
As for dashcams, I’ve been using an A119c (with a capacitor) for a little over a year now. This one specifically: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HN0HBFG There might be other listings now with a better price, be sure to search around. Just make sure you get the one with a capacitor and not a battery.
I’ve had no issue with the dashcam itself, though some important bits of the GPS mount melted when I was somewhere deep in the Mojave this past August. Air temperature was close to 120 °F and I was on top of a big black lava dome in direct sunlight, so it’s hard to tell how hot the GPS mount was when it failed. Thankfully Houston doesn’t get that warm.
The GPS in the mount continued to work, by the way, even in its deformed state. The camera can backfeed power into it, which I’ve found to be more reliable anyway. I eventually replaced the GPS mount after my windshield caught a rock and cracked, just to be safe.
I used an add a fuse to a DC USB converter. I've had mine in for about a year now with no issues. I went through the horn fuse. I set one up to the right of the TPMS sensor and one in the back in the small glass panel underneath the rear window.

It's not the cheapest, but I have this one and I have no complaints: https://www.amazon.com/SpyTec-Version-GPS-G-Sensor-Recording/dp/B01HN0HBFG
Get a remote lense camera. The camera is very small and the base unit can be hidden some where discrete.
Or get a wedge shaped camera, they also look stealthy. Cover any logo's or led's with black tape.

I personally use a Viofo/SpyTec A119 and the people over at r/dashcam highly recommend the A119.
It's about $90 on Amazon and is by far the most bang for your buck in terms of dash cameras. It can record up to 1440p at 30fps which is great for picking up small details, it has a wide angle, and great in low light conditions.
EDIT: Fixed link to Amazon
This is the one I got directly after being on a jury where hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars would have been saved if the defendant had a dash cam:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HN0HBFG
The video actually doesn't do the quality justice since its so heavily compressed! But if you're ever in the market for a dashcam, be sure to consider it :) A119
Go with this slightly more expensive one to record speed
Can't go wrong with a SpyTec A119
I'm a personal fan of the Vico-Marcus 3, but I've heard good things about the A119, and the G1W (or the G1WC)
Get something in your price range, and make sure it has the features you want. Do you want GPS? Ultra-high-res/FPS? Amazing night-time sensors? Automatic crash detection with saving?
Take a look at https://dashcamtalk.com/ for more info about pretty much any dashcam you want.
I currently have an A119. I would recommend the a118, a119, and a119s, the main difference between them being resolution. If you end up with of those and get the gps unit, do yourself a favor and power the main unit not the gps unit. Mine had issues when I powered it through the gps, and it corrupted my videos because it kept boot looping. Moved the cable to the camera itself, and no more bootloop.
Also be sure to pick up a "high endurance" micro sd, they really are better than a regular micro sd for this purpose.
Edit: Camera sample footage. The audio was lost from corruption, but I've fixed that problem now.
the spytech a119 that /u/WildWolf- mentioned is $64 on amazon right now. https://www.amazon.com/SpyTec-Camera-GPS-Logger-Recording/dp/B01HN0HBFG

I have the SpyTec A119. It's pretty popular and has great reviews. Seems to be mentioned every time someone asks for a recommendation too.

$90. Boom. I have one in both of my vehicles. It's a great dashcam.
I dont know what your financial situation is, but this one(~$50) is the cheapest one recommended by DashCamTalk.
The one I have is a mini 0803 which has been updated to the mini 0805 (~$80).
If you can find an affordable option that has capacitors instead of a battery, go that route as the battery will fail after a few months of hot weather and leave you without accurate time/date stamps on your videos, and you'll lose any other settings, but the device will still continue to work.
I currently have a SpyTec A119 on the way, but there are so many different features you may be interested in, take a look at that DashCamTalk site, or at least that BestOf page.
When it comes to driving, having a camera is always nice, I wish I had bought a nicer one sooner. There has been footage that was useless due to the poor video quality of my current cam. Unreadable license plates, or SAPD car numbers like in this video. I had a video of a guy turning in front of me, he had a snake around his neck, but upon reviewing the video you cannot make out the snake.
If you can afford it, definitely get one.
I bought a spy tec a119 and you can barely see the thing even when you're looking for it. Put it behind your rear view mirror and you're golden.

It's the A119, this is the one I got https://www.amazon.com/SpyTec-A119-Logger-1440p-Camera/dp/B01HN0HBFG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1484623469&sr=1-1&keywords=a119
I'm pretty thrilled with it. I'm running it 1080/60 but am thinking of switching to 1440/30 because I hear plates are easier to read and it's slightly brighter at night. Gonna play around with it at least.
Also need to mute the beep when I press buttons as you probably noticed!
There are some with a wedge shape that fits up toward the top of the windshield. Really hard to spot without looking for it if your windshield has those black dots are darker area up there.
I use a Viofo A119 from SpyTec. Has the wedge shape and some great features for $99 with GPS mount (would recommend getting this for better wiring direction and easier removal if need be) and $89 for regular mount.
Two reviews for ya.
+1
The GPS-included model is actually $90 right now on Amazon:

Nice so far.
I have this one and it's been very good and has gotten very good reviews.

There's also a version that only does 1080P, the A118.
finally pulled the trigger, it been a long time since i wanted one. The only thing that kept me from doing it was that i wanted it hardwire not freaking wires going to my cig lighter port. Well after spending 5 minutes on youtube it's not really hard at all... So i went out to my car to see what would to be done and doubt it will take me no more than 10 minutes to set up.
Just in case anyone want to know what i ordered for their selves
SpyTec A119 + GPS Logger 1440p Car Dash Camera
Spy Tec Dash Camera Vehicle Hard Wire Kit
fuse tap
Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x 32GB
I just bought this works very well...hard wired it in with an add a fuse.
This is a great dashcam.
That is a good dashcam, I have the A118C and the video image quality is excellent during the day but is mediocre at night.
In my honest opinion, I would go for the Viofo A119 dashcam which is a kind of upgraded version of the A118C and has superior video image quality. It is one of the most popular dashcams on the market just now.
You can buy the dashcam without GPS here: https://www.amazon.com/Viofo-A119-1440P-30fps-Camera/dp/B01HVWNFF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480310505&sr=8-1&keywords=viofo+a118c+dash+cam

this is the camera I have, I have caught a couple of near misses with it. It is a super easy install and always automatically starts has a snapshot button and does well in the heat.
> If you're paranoid like me get a dash cam.
This 1440p dashcam will do you well also.

I have the A119 which is has been easy to use and works great. I also highly recommend it since it's only maybe $20 more than A118 but still less than $100. https://smile.amazon.com/SpyTec-Camera-GPS-Logger-Recording/dp/B01HN0HBFG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1496860422&sr=1-3&keywords=a119
Looks to be this one:
https://www.amazon.com/SpyTec-Camera-GPS-Logger-Recording/dp/B01HN0HBFG
I bought a Spy Tech A119. They are supposed to be the best bang for your buck if you want a discreet 1 camera system.
I would get 2 A119 for front and rear.
Buying the A119 V2 from Spytec on Amazon is a good option. Spytec ships from the US and has good customer service
https://www.amazon.com/SpyTec-Version-GPS-G-Sensor-Recording/dp/B01HN0HBFG
Hardwiring a dash cam in your car insn't permanent, all you're doing is putting a wire in the fuse slot and unscrewing a screw that's in metal and putting the ground wire in
Street Guardian or the best bang for the buck option A119
I went with the A119 instead of the mobius because I liked how it mounted and it will do 1080p at 60 frames. I also purchased a wiring kit so i could tuck everything up behind the rear view mirror.

Looks like everyone agrees that I should get one for each car, so I think I will go with buying two. After watching the videos posted by you all, reading your input and looking at all the available features, I am thinking I will go with the A119 with a lexar 633x micro sd card The card shows as beign sold by lexar and camera shows being sold by spytec. Is tehre anything I am missing? Thank you all for being so helpful!!
I'm happy with the A119 because it has GPS, no WiFi (I consider that a plus), and it has a capacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery for better handling in the Nebraska cold/heat.
SpyTec A119
I think Balkov is a foreign seller if that matters to you. Here's a local retailer with a similar price. It is indeed a V2!
Samsung EVO Select is the card you want, not the regular EVO.
> What is TFT in the title?
TFT is in regards to the LCD technology: Thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display. It serves no marketing purpose so I don't understand why it's listed in the title.
> Also doesnt say anything about the 90 deg adapter, would that be a problem mounted on the windshield behind the mirror?
You're using the GPS mount so you don't need the 90 degree adapter since the USB port is at the top of the GPS mount. The adapter is only useful if you aren't using the GPS mount since the USB port is on the side of the camera.
If you plan to hardwire your camera only stick with Power Magic Pro, MultiSafer, Fine Safer, or Vico Power Plus hardwiring kits. These are the most well known and reliable kits.
I apologize about my original link for the A119. The V1 was replace by the V2 almost a year ago and all other retailers said they've been out of the V1's for about that long. I'm still dumbfounded there is a retailer selling the V1. They really need to make that more obvious in the title especially since the V2 model came about due to bad connections between the GPS and camera on the V1 model.
Don't cheap out that much, spend at least $90 and get an A119 or better. Trust me, it's well worth it. Oh, and grab a CPL filter while you're at it.

For anyone looking. I recommend a A119. I used to own the G1W but it fell apart and the battery died. I don't particularly live in a hot area (New England) so I didn't get the capacitor model. The G1W is a good starter unit but is large, bulky accessories and mediocre workmanship.
I choose the A119 for under $100 as it was in the top 3 for camera image quality(1440p) under 100, very discrete, can attach GPS speed sensor, and lense attachment. The accesories it included were much better than the G1W and I bought an additional hardwire kit for $12 and hid all the cables away.
Consider an A119 dash cam and hard wire it. They are powered off the base which stays wired up. That way you can quickly move it from car to car or remove it when parked without messing with any wires.

Can anyone say what the difference is between the Spy Tec A119 and the Adorama A119?
I have this one in my truck and cars and I love it.
But make sure you get a high endurance card! The regular or ultra cards won't cut it and will crap out within months.
This is the one I recommend to normies.
No need to spend that much. Been happy with my Spytech A119 for one year so far.
Holy cow did that truck smack that pole or somethin... what a coincidence for a test video lmao.
I saw the one you have referred on /r/dashcam. I think $200 is too pricey for me right now, esp cause I might be buying for 2 cars worth.
I've briefly looked at the SpyTec or this one. What are your opinions?
I recently picked up an A119 and I'm super happy with it so far. Here's a review. Slick form factor, 1440p recording, great day and night video quality, GPS, and capacitor based for $100.
It's the A119 (link). The sidebar over at /r/dashcam suggests it as the "discrete" option.
It records at 1440p and I haven't had to touch it since I put it in a couple years ago. And installing it was just a matter of running a cable over to the fuse box and tucking it under the car's interior. It turns on/off with the car, and from the driver's side is almost completely hidden behind the rear view mirror. It's visible from the passenger's side, but still out of the way.
I got this one and a Lexar 32GB card for like 11 bucks or something.
