I literally wear my heart on my sleeve.
I was making tea for a man I was very interested in, to have before he went to work (grave shift), but I was extremely tired. Somehow or another, the entire pot of freshly boiled water for the tea landed on my arm.
He had no obligation to help, but he whisked me off to the ER at 1am, going 70. As I was getting morphine'd up, he called my parents that live a long ways away to let them know what had happened. They unlocked the door and, upon my release (fully doped up), he drove me all the way to my parents.
He gave up work and sleep to do this. We were together for half a year and he's still a friend, but my arm will always remind me of the stupid crap I do for love. I can post a picture of my still-janked up arm, if you want :)
