Yeah. I know Startech makes this one:

Quick googling also found these more rugged ones:

If you need to feed power to this device, I'd be wary of PoE at that distance... You're depending on the load, you're going to get some serious losses on tiny Cat5/6 wires.

You said that you can stick whatever cables you want up there, I'd look into something like this. 100m at 1km over pots lines, should be good enough unless you need more b/w.

The "right" way to do it would be fiber, but that can get real expensive real fast.

A pair of these would be your best chance for backhaul:

Another option is a couple 1000 reels of CAT6 spliced together, with VDSL converters. Would be more reliable through a maze of trees than wireless, that's for sure. Definitely not cheaper though.

And an AP for wireless clients to connect to at the far side:

http://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-PicoStation-2-4GHz-802-11g-Access/dp/B0055PKSG6

It's all weatherproof so you got that going for you. A switch would let you connect multiple access points to handle extra traffic.

If it was my gig as network admin I would be providing a router that could be setup to do filtering as needed to prevent abuse. The Mikrotik RB750 would be good for this role.

Don't re-wire your phone plugs to be Ethernet unless they are all home-run (meaning each jack goes to the basement, and not daisy-chained together) Also, I would only consider this if they are CAT5e runs (not CAT5 or CAT3, or simply phone wire)

You could use any of these other options...

If you can, bury a cable as everyone else is suggesting.

Run high speed DSL (e.g. "VDSL" or "VDSL2"), often called an "Ethernet extender," over the cable if it's copper. For example:

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-VDSL2-Ethernet-Extender-Single/dp/B002CLKFTG

Basically, you get two boxes. One works like the telco end of a DSL line, the other works as the customer side. You get Ethernet out of both ends.

Connecting the two boxes needs with just a single copper twisted pair, just like a phone line, and even works on pre-Cat non-rated cables. (Though since this is a new install, of course run extra pairs/cables/space to pull more cable in the conduit.) I have a similar, though shorter, link over legacy 25 pair telephone wire buried decades ago in a galvanized pipe that's now degraded to the point the cable couldn't be replaced. Works perfectly.

Theoretically, you could even simultaneously use the pair you're using for DSL to run a POTS phone extension. You will need power at the outbuilding to run the DSL and Ethernet equipment.

The kit I linked to (I have a different brand and older model; this was just the first search result, so I have no idea if this is a good model) says it'll cover a kilometer with no repeaters or switches. I'm not sure I'd believe this without testing, and I wouldn't expect full speed at that range, but it should certainly have no problem with your 200 m run.

This gets rid of the need to run power and build a weatherproof enclosure halfway between the buildings. Even if you did do that, I'd worry about the humidity in that shed, and it's one more piece of equipment to maintain.

If you can afford it, fiber will probably be faster and safer. Remember that when linking the buildings with copper data lines, you may have grounding issues between them, plus need to worry about lightning strikes. But if you can safely run copper, DSL's the way to go.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The entry point in the house is not the ideal place for a switch. Is there a high power router or extender that I could use to extend the range of the cable. I've been looking at this but I'd like something a little cheaper.

As I see it, here are your options:

You can use a VDSL router to bridge your network over the POTS wiring. I have done it many times over much longer links and it works really well.

Do you at least have a pair of phone wires between the buildings? Hard-wire will be more reliable than wireless any day. I've used this with great success: https://www.amazon.com/Ethernet-Extender-Kit-TUPEX-100-Broadband/dp/B01BOD8C9W or same thing:

If you have 4 wires in the phone line you can wire it for 100Mbps. If it's only a single pair you can do it using VDSL modems. You can only use 1 pair for each pair of wires though, so if all of your jacks are tapped together you would only be able to use a single pair of modems.

Here's a couple I found:

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-110VDSLEXT-Ethernet-Extender-Single/dp/B002CLKFTG

If you have Coax available in your house, MoCa is a better route. Much higher speeds.

Powerline ethernet could work too, but I haven't experienced great results with it myself.

Edit: My phone guy told me about some of these that have gigabit and POE over a single pair of copper: https://www.transition.com/products/media-converters/eo2pse4052-111-eo2pd4052-111/
