Really as long as it has a temperature control, and either no, or very little steam holes (beads get stuck) you'll do great! The one I have does have holes, but they've never caused a problem surprisingly. I had a previous one that was similar and caused me great grief.
Yeah, you showed me the buran (love it) last time- if it wouldn't add so much bulk, I'd say get a travel steamer or a mini travel iron/steamer thing. These are so cheap, I wonder if you could pick one up when you move and drop it off at a thrift store when you move again.
Do you drop your iron often? Cuz, I just got the Steamfast SF 717 Home and Away Iron for quilting. It's great but I dropped it a few times and sometimes water leaks from the grey area. From what I know, there is no auto shut off feature.

How does that one look?
OP, I know you’re looking for a steamer, but have you thought to try an iron? There are some pretty compact ones out there.

I bought this for my MIL and she has taken it to all her quilting groups and really l likes it. It's so portable and irons very well.
