You have an original Xbox One controller. If you want to use a standard 3.5mm headset you'll need one of these.

I'm guessing based on the other reply, the astro mixamp tr doesn't support this, so I need to go 1st/2nd gen?

So I noticed the 58x weren't as loud as I wanted them to be when plugged into my elite with the stereo headset adapter so I did some searching and bought this $20 Neotek DAC someone suggested in this thread.
Does anyone have any experience with particular one or have any suggestions for xbox one if this flops?
I don't have a PC yet, just an old macbook pro.
I've heard good things about Micca OriGen G2 and it's next on my list but it's $100 and I rather not spend that much just yet.

I'm not sure honestly, you could always try and plug in some earbuds before buying the adapter and if it works then there is no need to buy the adapter.

Buy a headset adapter, or buy a new controller that's not outdated and discontinued.
