I trudged through a Being and Event in its entirety a few years back with a small reading group that eventually dwindled to me and one other guy. After getting through it, I can confidently say that brushing up on Set Theory is the most important factor in understanding it. It doesn't hurt to be familiar with some or all of the authors and texts he references in the various meditations, but a fairly firm grasp on set theory is the most important part. One of the early members of the reading group was this Russian guy who was really into Heidegger and he recommended this book, Stories About Sets. It presents the basic tenants of Set Theory in a simple and straightforward manner and is aimed at the layman. I highly recommend it if you want to tackle Badiou.

Honestly, I like Reddit (I'm reading this, right?) but you should ask someone in the Math dept at your school. If you like your current prof then ask him/her. If not, see if one of your friends has a teacher that they think is personable, and approach them (email if you are shy; use your friend's name if you are terminally shy). If still not, drop by the dept offices and ask to speak to someone about the undergrad program.

There are some fine recommendations from other folks (I'd add Stories about sets if you are just turned on by some of the interesting questions, or there are other choices if, for instance, you like the big-O-ness of L'Hopital's Rule). But nothing beats an in-person conversation.
