I'd strongly recommend the Stormdancer series by Jay Kristoff

I stumbled across the recently, it's the first fantasy series I've listened to with a Japanese tone to it.

It's kinda like the Last Samurai (the awful Tom Cruise movie) meets How to Train Your Dragon.
