Washington Post article about Annalena. Although not herself a doctor, she was a medical pioneer when it came to treating tuberculosis in nomadic populations. I just read a book about her, titled Stronger than Death: How Annalena Tonelli Defied Terror and Tuberculosis in the Horn of Africa. She is honestly one of the most Christlike people I have ever heard of.
She was sixty at the time of her death. They don’t seem to know who killed her or why, but the best guess is she was an early victim of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization.
