I have bought multiple heating pads over the years and I highly recommend the XL ones. I have this one and the large surface is awesome. It also heats up very warm initially, then keeps up a 'maintenance' level of heat, which is very nice for my back problems. (Sorry for plugging -- it really is the best one I've ever had.)
yes my friend I do. I hunted a LONG time to find one that I could disable the auto timer, but this is by far the nicest, most comfortable and most versatile heating pad I've ever had. And it's long
it's hard to explain without seeing it. it's not like other heating pads that have a cloth wrapped around a heating element, the cloth in this is part of the heating and the element is inside it. it's also machine washable, and you can use the stuff in the link below (also bought) for a heated moist therapy. the cord unplugs from the heating pad itself so it can be washed in a machine
this thing rocks. but there's one other option, a pressure activated pad that i had for my outside strays when I cared for them. it stays on as long as they're laying on it. it says it's for outdoors, and i used mine outside, but when I moved I brought it in and my inside cats sleep on it most of the day. it doesn't get hot, just warms enough to make them happy
here's one of my cats on the pressure activated pad

this one is a little cheaper (don't worry about the pictures, they don't show the cover that comes with it.) this is the one I bought for the outdoor insulated enclosure I built

I have one of these, I'm almost positive it's the same one. It's the size of my entire back. I can get relief all across my back at the same time instead of choosing one half.
It has an auto off feature that can be disabled, which I do not recommend you do unless you are sure you wont fall asleep.
I have this heating pad on my chair at work because I'm always cold: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NZ66KU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Seconded. I have one of these. I boil up 8 cups of water in an electric kettle and pour it in, and let all the extra air out before screwing in the plug. Boiling water is hot as fuck so I wrap it up in a bath towel. It stays warm the whole night and it's still pretty warm the next morning. Just check to make sure each time you fill it that there are no cracks or damage, boiling hot water can burn you really badly if it leaks out.
I also have this small electric heating pad which works really well.
This is the one I got, which was recommended to me by another bumper. I like that it's got a few settings as well as an auto-shut off after 2 hours (and a setting that keeps it on indefinitely). It's made a huge difference for me at work.
This one has been on my wishlist forever. Gets great reviews and is the #1 best seller. Also fairly affordable!
I would buy a heating blanket/pad like this. Fairly inexpensive and they are really nice. I put mine inside my sheets before I shower at night, and by the time I get in bed it is super toasty.
Seconding this! Mine isn't mobile, but it is divine. I have RA and mild hip dysplasia and that heating pad set right on the hip - sometimes I weigh it down with a bag of rice or something too - is seriously one of the few things that gets me through the day when it is flaring up.
Sometimes I find that sitting or laying with joints at a different angle can help with the pain too - I may sit on a pillow to adjust the height and angle my hips are at or sleep with a pillow between my legs or under my knees.
Staying hydrated helps some too - like I feel less gross and am better able to cope with it?
It may also be worth discussing options with the doctor - sometimes there may be a different NSAID that works better or something.
I was looking at that for my tension headaches. Instead I went with a rectangular one which can be a little awkward to get in the right spot, but my neck and shoulder relaxed after 1 session on the lowest setting. It's the same brand as the one you're looking at so I would expect the neck and shoulder wrap one to work equally well. I might still get the neck and shoulder one come winter.
This heating pad looks amazing and relaxing! :)
I love the skulls one in your picture!
