Um. Actually in this case you're paying more for a turd. Your first mistake was buying from Best Buy.

Magnetic smart cover, holes for speakers, charger, power button / volume, and audio jack. Works as a stand too.
16GB owner. No complaints or problems with mine. After getting a case, and insurance, I would have probably gone back and told myself to get the 8GB one for cheaper all around.

I absolutely love it. It can prop the nexus up in landscape mode, has a great leather feel to it, all the ports/microphone holes are designed to fit the nexus 7, and it has the magnetic wake/lock feature. Also good price at around $10
I got this one ... Looks almost identical to the one you posted, for 10 dollars less. I have it at the moment and it's great and fits perfectly.
I got this case and NFC works just fine.

How do you know that my case isn't damn good? Did I ever specify why one I bought or you just assuming that because it's $6 that it's got to be crap.
I bought the case off of Amazon and it's received great reviews. When I bought the case it was a little cheaper than it is now ($7.99 + shipping, so $2 higher than the $6 I quoted above).

I think because they just want to try as sell as many as they can to new potential customers with the new 7. The normal price is around $15... so long story short the old version just isn't on sale.
Edit: If you are looking for a cheaper 2012 case I bought this one last November and it has held up extreamly well for somthing that was only $10 dollars. The feel of it is like real leather and it has not shown the least bit of wear on it. It fit like a glove and was not overly bulky and I can't tell you how many times I dropped my 7 in it and it always protected it well.
The only downside is when I first got it for a good day or so it has a extremely strong chemical type smell. After that it was smooth sailing and I would buy it again if I had to.
I got this one and am really happy with it. Cheap, feels expensive, has wake-on, etc. No complaints.
