That is a pretty good case that I have used. I dropped my phone quiete a few times with that and nothing happened to my phone. The only thing is that it doesn't fully cover the front of the phone. Plus it's only about $20.

This is the case that I am currently using. It's a bit pricy at $40 but so far I absolutely love it and especially the stand in the back of the case for when I watch my movies. The only problem I have with this case is that when I drive and want to plug in my wire to my phone to listen to music it doesn't fit because of the cover. Maybe my wire cord tip just is old and not big enough.
Those are the two I would recommend, haven't tried any other cases.
Instead of using the edge-only glass screen protectors, followed by the Whitestone Dome with LOCA glue as I did with my S8 Plus, I'm just going to go with a case with a built-in screen protector, such as the i-BLASON or the Supcase from Unicorn Beetle.

Right, and that's where the $20 screen replacement deductible comes in.
If you drop you phone and the screen cracks, ubreakifix will repair it for $20. That's a risk I'm willing to take compared to dumping $40-$50 on a screen protector that just seems to eventually fail.
That's the reason why I went with it. I've gone through every decent screen protector for the Note 8 and every one of them failed in some way.
Whitestone is the one that ticked me off the most since they refused to honor their warranty and never responded to my emails when I asked them what I need to do to get a replacement.
I spent 40 minutes at a Zagg store nearby where I live just to have 4 different Elites fail to stick in the bottom right corner of my phone.
If you do go with a Whitestone again, the Unicorn Beetle case is compatible with it after removing the plastic protector (it just pops right out).
I love my Supcase Unicorn Beetle Shield (or whatever it's called) with the included screen protector taken off in favor off a tempered glass screen protector. I've dropped it quite a few times in various surfaces (I'm clumsy, what can I say) and still looks brand new.

I have a rugged case with integral screen protector which I use for work.
Minimal finger sensitivity impact, zero pen impact, and my phone is fully protected.
Best part is, at the end of the day I can pop it out and enjoy a naked 8.
