I'm a top level gift giver and this is what I bought all my boyfriends.

Went ahead and ordered this along with the extra batteries, charger and propellers.

In all honesty these tiny micro/nano quads are terrible as first flyers. They're so squirrely and get disoriented easily. The Gyros get off all the time too and you have to reset them.

As /u/foobar83 said the FPV will be shit and really jittery. I'd venture to say it'd even be worthless with how twitchy these things are.

I always recommend the Syma X5C-1. It's small enough where you won't get in too much trouble but big enough to be very stable and learn the muscle memory of flying. Plus there are readily available spare parts galore if when you break it.

Just do it. Enjoy!

I got a Syma X5C-1 found here.

It's a great entry quadcopter, very maneuverable and light. You can fly it indoors with prop guards, and has decent video.

I've been flying it around the whole year and let me tell you, it's the best purchase I've bought.

Best bang for your buck cheap drone most people seem to be suggesting is the Syma X5C. Runs ~$50 at amazon.

There's lot of variations on it and even the bigger version in the X8's etc.

How about something a little more.. In budget?

That one doesn't come with a camera or transmitter.

This one is the new version with camera and transmitter. This thing is great outdoors. It can handle most wind pretty well and it can survive any crash. Battery life is 7 minutes, but you can order a ton more batteries from amazon for cheap.
