"I bought a seven-dollar pen because I always lose pens and I got sick of not caring." Mitch Hedberg
I drunkenly bought a $20 space pen 2 years ago and still love it, but $160 for a knife isn't a careless purchase for most people. If you like the simple/clean style of the ZT, you might be a fan of the Ruike I just picked up a few months ago for an EDC ~$30.

This. This all day.
Look at this Ganzo.
For something smaller and stainless steel grips see the byrd meadowlark
This Tangram has G10 grips
Ruike knives are very well made given the price point. Look at their whole line.
Edit: Just to be clear, I had nothing to do with that shitty bot trying to make money off Amazon links.
If you can push it to 50 CAD, the Ruike P801 is very well regarded and appears to ship from Canada, so no customs issues.
Might not fit in your scheme but a really nice knife.

I got this as a gift for a friend and he has constantly been singing its praises and saying how impressed he is with it.
I’m personally not a fan of the slick handle style, I need some grip but it’s very very well made.
I'm finding it for just under [thirty bucks] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XD65VQF/ref=pd_aw_sbs_200_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=3X7VHWH1DAK8WWJNB30T&dpPl=1&dpID=41kU%2BY9jAeL), is it the blackwash version maybe?
I highly recommend any thing by Ruike: The 801 is one of my favorites https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XD65VQF/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My pick for him is this: perfect size

Take look at the offerings from Ruike. They value (quality for the price) of their knives is much higher than any of the American brands like CRKT, Kershaw, or Spyderco. I'm partial to the P801: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XD65VQF/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522848092&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ruike+p801sf
Most of Ruike's knives are steel framelocks running on bearings. They're much more smooth and reliable and use a much better steel than any of Kershaw, CRKT, or Spyderco's offerings.
Check out the Ruike P801.
Relatively small, slim and easy to carry folder with ball bearings for a smooth action (no assist) and a deep carry pocket clip.
The steel is 14C28N, which is great for the price.
I would check out a [Ruike](RUIKE RKEP801SF P801 Framelock Knife https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD65VQF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JSsRAb0G5DC06), [Ontario Rat 2](Ontario Knife OKC Rat Ii Sp-Black Folding Knife, 7Inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BBPAOCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uTsRAbT3STB78) or [Tangram Santa Fe](Tangram Folding Pocket Knife 3 inches Drop Point Sharp Blade Liner Lock Black G10 Handle Knife,Azo Santa Fe TG3002A1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075N689CH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gUsRAb4KZF806) before either of those tbh. I forgot Ruike, the RKEP801SF is on my list. I discovered the flashlight company that makes Fenix is producing the brand.

I want to try one of these.
