We have pee pads on all of our beds now because gimli5doggo thought the guest room was his personal territory. :/ We have this one and it's great - super soft, and no "squeaky" noise....and has saved our guest bed twice since then!
They have come a long way since the plastic covers, thank god. I don't remember exactly what I have, but it's like this. As far as the towels, I don't go to sleep on one, I just lay one down and sleep on it after the first time I get up sweating.
