Tatoosh Trail, south of Mt. Rainier. Take Skate Creek Rd./NF 52 on the northeast end of Packwood 4 miles, then right on NF 5270 (gravel) about 10 miles to the Butter Creek trailhead. Hike up to the meadows, Tatoosh Lakes, and lookout, all with incredible views of Rainier. You can descend down the Butter Creek approach back to your car, or down the Hinkle Tinkle approach to the trailhead at the end of NF 5292/Cannon Rd. This trail only become passable mid-to-late July most years, with the melting of the high snowpack. Can be done as a long dayhike, or an overnighter.
