When I'm out & about: In this bumper case

When I'm at home: In this charger/stand

That’s correct. Even better, you can get a nice charger/holder from Amazon and thread the adapter through it—never have to use the iPad to charge ever again. I’m not describing it very well, but here’s an example:

There is something called a Charging Stand. You can see it here.

It has (for me) the benefit that the Apple Pencil does not have to be attached to an iPad to get charged. A have mine placed at a convenient location. - So I do not have to mount the Pencil on an iPad to get it charged. And since I do not use the Pencil all the time this is convenient for me. - This can, as far as I know not be done with the Apple Pencil 2. It has to be on an iPad to charge.

Of course the evolution points to USB-C. And I recognize the possibilities it provides. But some times it is not necessary to buy “future proof” when what is common now meets one’s needs. Especially when “future proof” is more expensive and you do not need it.

If I were to enter the Apple world today I would still look for the lightning versions because the USB-C devices are much more expensive. This would work fine for me as I am never going to attach anything to my IOS devices. But if attachments were important to me, and I were new to Apple then I would also look for USB-C. Just like I would with other devices such as head phones.

No problem. For what it’s worth, I have this pencil dock:

It’s a nice solution if you have a place you use the iPad/Pencil regularly, and I like that it evokes an inkwell. There are a few others on Amazon that look about the same.

I don’t mean to suggest that the Pencil is always out of battery, but it is always draining very slowly. I would say that it could go from fully charged to drained in about 1 week with no actual use. A lot of it depends on weird stuff like if you keep it close to your iPad, and how often it moves.
