I highly recommend Geoff Johns' run on Teen Titans, which started in 2003 and went for about 50 issues. You can get an omnibus for it, which looks like it covers the entire run (anyone feel free to correct me). You can also get the single issues really cheap, if you want to go that route.

The Wolfman/Perez run is also fantastic, but it might be a bit dated for him.

If you're talking about the recently cancelled Teen Titans written by Scott Lobdell, skip it. Lobdell does a pretty terrible job, and was up there with Catwoman as a terrible comic written by a terrible writer. But if you're talking about the newly released Teen Titans by Pfeifer and Rocafort, it's only one issue, but I enjoyed it immensely. The only characters from this comic who was in the TV show are Beast Boy and Raven. The leader is Tim Drake, aka Red Robin (the third Robin), and not Dick Grayson (the first Robin and from the TV show). But other than that, it's pretty reader-friendly so far. I would definitely recommend it to fans of the TV show.

If I was you, I would invest into buying this bad boy http://www.amazon.com/Teen-Titans-Geoff-Johns-Omnibus/dp/1401236936 (of course you can just buy the trades which is a lot cheaper http://www.amazon.com/Teen-Titans-Vol-Kids-Game/dp/1401203086/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1408422310&sr=1-2&keywords=Teen+Titans+vol+1). Geoff Johns, arguably the best comic book writer at the moment, wrote this a while back. And while this has nothing to do with the New 52, it was a great read. I read this immediately after Teen Titans the show ended, and it held up to the greatness the show was.

here is the price history for the Omni. In several years, it hasn't dropped below $94.50 on amazon, but it's currently on it's way down from a high price late last year.

>I have always been a fan of the Titans simply because I remember those long summers watching teen titans on Cartoon Network. I recently learned they were actually comics.

Oh my heart

One of the best runs on Teen Titans, avoid the current series since it's kinda bad and really dumb.

This is also a good one and explores Deathstroke (Slade) quite a bit: http://www.amazon.com/The-New-Teen-Titans-Contract/dp/093028934X

As for Grundy, he actually has a book about him collecting a mini-series he had a few years ago that led into the 'Blackest Night' event - http://www.amazon.com/Solomon-Grundy-Scott-Kolins/dp/1401225861

  1. I absolutely loved Geoff John's Teen Titans which had Tim Drake on the team. A lot of people I know liked Red Robins solo books but personally I was more of a fan of Teen Titans.

  2. You may want to look into some vertigo books, a lot of those books end up being more dark because they're geared towards an older audience. Sandman is a great book, it can definitely be dark at times. I'll confess I've never read Hellblazer, but i'm pretty sure they have the dark tone that you are looking for with more of a magic theme.

  3. Lol.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1401236936/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_FN78tb058231R Here is his omnibus. It basically seems like 1-46 plus tie ins. If you don't want the omnibus it's the first seven volumes.
