Is there an accepted way to stamp the serial (with a set of stamps ) into the battery box or something for just such an occasion as this, where you lose the little dog tag and the sticker off the side?
Cause at first blush, to me, sounds like a decent idea, and I think supply rooms have a set of these since they have to mark keys and such, right?

I found it quite easy! Just get a good mallet. I recommend using masking tape to line up your lettering.
Hi! I have never done this before so I am a bit confused but what kind of leathers can I use this with? Or is this just a bad idea for leather in general?
No clue on the pen. However you could stamp it in with one those leather stamping kits. That would be permanent and look pretty cool too.

Would these punches work on an AR-15 lower?

OP's concern is their thing, so no surprise it's being mentioned but "brigade"? You can just get this, this, this and this but the concept of having something that survives a fire is not a bad idea.

This just made me think about making my own.
Get a piece of metal, and a letter/number stamp set (like https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-6610-32-Inch-Letter-36-Piece/dp/B000NPUKY8) and make my own.
Total cost would be under $30 and you could make as many as you need for just the cost of a new piece of metal (cheap).
Might do this today..
Or just don't bother with the 922r faggotry because it's unenforceable and only practical for major importators. hint: stamp some shit with "US" if you're paranoid
