You actually have a right setup of the sofa and the tv. Just need a little make over.

For the sofa, why not add some cover? to add an accent like this one.
Put some rugs, a white or grey rug would be great just like this.
The bookshelf, you can put it in the corner. (I can't actually see what's on the other side of the photo so I can't suggest moving it) Then paint it white to lessen darkness of the space, put some succulent plants, books and some small frames and arrange it like this.
Remove the blue and black storage. (Is that a storage?) you can put them away or in your kitchen.
Then the wall will leave blank, you can hang some wall art on it. Wall Art of your choice or what you love (characters, nature, flowers) I've found some elegant wall arts here.
The room is dark, I think you need to add some light above the tv and I suggest adding a wallpaper to add some accent coz the room is kinda bald and dark. You can get your idea here.
