Wow, Austen is not easy. There is a huge amount of cultural context which can make it hard to understand especially with her writing style. I did my college thesis on the adaptation to the movie and miniseries.

• Jane Austen: The World of Her Novels this is a bit advanced, and more of a history book, but it could be useful.

• The 1995 BBC miniseries with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is a pretty faithful reproduction of the novel and along with the annotated version could be very useful.
