The rule for anything is that before you are awesome, you will suck at it. in fact, many people will argue that you HAVE TO suck at it, in order to make any progress!!

another thing, is that you need to first focus on the process, before thinking about the goal. yes, you want to have a great date with that girl in your group. but put that aside right now.

Focus on getting better at talking to people, building up common things, getting comfortable with people you don't know so well.
