Don’t forget the book collection of a ton of back issues. I have it in hardback.

Probably The Best of 2600... I know of a few prisoners who would love this... mostly from the "letters" section of the magazine (pretty awesome that some prisons will let them keep their subscriptions coming there). Though some of them likely have lifetime subscriptions anyway.
Those who thirst for knowledge are sometimes punished. But this would help keep them satisfied for the time they were put away.

This book has a ton of little 'hacks' like this and explanations. In this case it said that for local mail you may get away with it as long as you hide it within other letters that have postage since otherwise the mailman will just leave it in the mailbox. Also, long distance mail will likely be noticed, but there are other ways to try and trick the system.
If you are looking for specific examples of netsec related things you could check out 2600: A hacker odyssey. It has a ton of great articles of hacking/netsec stories from as far back as the 70's (I think) that I found to be both entertaining and informative.
