So happy for you! It's a long process but so rewarding. I just picked up The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor ironically for my husband, it seems like it fits all groups though I haven't read it.
Comparing apples to oranges is just a setup for failure. I love that we're finally beginning to embrace real bodies without Photoshop or heavy editing. I definitely did not like the trend initially because it was so different. Now that I'm used to shopping sites that use realistic models I love the idea, it makes me more comfortable with my body. I'm hoping it's doing the same for others!
Can you imagine what it will be like for future generations of women? Could we forge through thus as a group and make coming of age and being a woman easier? I absolutely love the new focus on physical and mental health, instead of how to deal with cutting to the bare minimum of calories and developing an eating disorder. Which was pretty much what I recall dieting advice in 90's magazines.
You mentioned loving your eyes and hair. You didn’t mention loving your body. You’ve got to work on loving your curves and every inch of your body.
Do you have any access to a therapist to talk about this stuff with? You’re fighting a huge culture that demeans larger people. That’s not an easy task. Lizzo is wonderful but we still have a long way to go.
