Check out The Bullet Journal Method https://www.amazon.com/dp/0525533338/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ff1BDbZ43X5B8 written by a designer with ADHD. There's a chapter on goals and how to break them down into smaller, manageable pieces. It really helps me.

You're very welcome. I had to go through a lot to start figuring myself out. I finally realized having a book or teacher (aka therapist or taking a class) was a lot of help. There's something called Bullet Journal, which is an almost blank diary, at Barnes & Noble or you can order one from Amazon. The journal itself if a little pricey because it's an extremly nice format. But the real gem is it comes with a set of instructions - maybe 10 pages at the back. It helped me get over the hump of using one on a regular basis.

It's surprisingly simple but flexible which also makes it a little daunting to start but you just have to jump in and start using it and not be afraid to make mistakes. Your second or third month will be very different from your first. I use it to track my mood in addition to other health trackers and also just as a daily journal. They call it rapid logging - you don't care about format or anything, just getting it on paper in one collected place instead of having sticky notes and 3x5 cards all over the place. The creator of it recently published a more detailed book on how to use your journal. Maybe something to ask for Christmas! :)

Theres another sleeping technique I remembered because I used it last night. When laying in bed and stressed out, every time you exhale, imagine your tension turning to jelly. Any tension in your head, chest, abdomen... From top of the head through the body down to the feet, little by little, just imagine everything turning to mush. All tension just dissolve into watery slush. That one helps me and doesn't result in any blissful state or anything, it's just for getting rest. Even if you don't fall asleep it still allows you to get physical and mental rest.

You might want to get them the book so they know what their meant to be doing with the journal. If they lean towards being artistic some nice pens or markers would be a good start. And I’m a maniac for washi tape, so I like to include a couple rolls as part of a gift.

From Ryder Carrol (the creator of BuJo) - Book:

>Breaking down goals into Sprints mitigates the risks of being overwhelmed and fatigued.

The idea is to break down your goals into sprints, by doing so you can create a momentum by completing each sprint and keeping you motivated.

again i don’t know if this is anywhere near helpful to you, but go read the synopsis of this book. if it appeals to you, then you might find those feelings go away when you regain control and order over your life, instead of letting life control you.

it worked well to change how i feel about those small, daily tasks as well as monumental, overwhelming goals.

It’s definitely a journey of self discovery and self reflection! Pull out a piece of paper and write why and what you want to journal. Tape that page or rewrite into your first page. The first page is the hardest. No more pristine clean journal!

My life was disheveled and I would miss appointments, deadlines, and overall my brain felt cluttered. I was sick of it. So that was my “Why”. My bullet journal is truly a one stop shop. Scheduling, calendar, dream documenter, sketchbook, weight loss log, habit tracker, finance, bill tracker, and it’s a blend of my personal and work life. It’s my biggest safe space. This is my “what”. I love how fluid and versatile bullet journals are. Have fun with it!

I also recommend reading this it is a valuable resource for me
